I used the 3/8" rail for the smaller scopes, it worked for me. You might be able to find a rail that extends further back. If all else fails you buy a one piece rail, cut it in half and turn the rear base around. http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=191074812217

Nice setup you have. I think I have the same rings, Burris Z". Looks like your rings are highs? Mine are mediums, and I have a 3-9X40 Tasco on mine.

Good price! It's $289 here plus tax/fees.

You technically just want about 3'' of eye relief from the scope and unless the stock is really long on you I know from that setup in the picture I would almost be on top of the ocular.

Does anyone know what the difference in length is on the stock, between the compact and normal pulls. Are they interchangeable ?

1.25". I'd imagine they are interchangeable but I can't say for sure.

Check the www.ruger.com. It says the all the pulls will fit either the regular or compact rifle.

I paid $279 at my local gun store but I think Sports Academy had them for $20 less last week. Was going to get a 10/22 but I just couldn't resist the 22LR RARs trigger, floating barrel and interchangeable stock feature for the price. I've only been to the range twice (18 degrees and windy!) but so far, I really like my RAR. For my eyes iron sights are marginal at 50 yards in good light so now I need a scope & bullet-prof base (<$100)[/B] for bench shooting at 25-100 yards. I'm leaning toward a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9X32 Rifle Scope with Adjustable Objective but any suggestions from more experienced shooters here would be much appreciated?

I second that comment about girls and their dads. I have always thought this about dads. How can a girl trust a God in the sky that they cannot see if they cannot trust their father here on earth?

Good job dad!
Jim

>>I am sure she will proudly tell people decades from now, "And my daddy even painted that rifle pink just for me. He taught me how to shoot and I did real well at it. After work he'd take me out back and let my shoot the spinners and bowling pins. . . "

Daughters put great wealth in things like that and time spent with their fathers. Nice job dad. <<
