How's that new American 22LR doing? Those are understandably in demand and becoming scarce!

It's doing well. I just had it out the other day. It still hits everything I point it at! I am very pleased and am still contemplating a scope. I haven't decided yet. I am really liking the little shooter.

My Tech-Sights come in Friday can't wait to put them on I'll post pictures once I get it installed.

Going to add a micro red dot on a rail with the tech sights, later...

Sportsman's Warehouse advertising for $249.95. Picked up one yesterday and they even offered me a 400 rd box of .22LR to purchase with the rifle.

Here's some pics from my RAR Rimfire's first outing.

I bought the gun brand-new, topped it with Weaver #12 bases, Leupold medium rings, and an old Simmons 4-12x44 scope I happened to have lying around. I wasn't really set up to see just how good this rifle can be; I have little doubt it is much better than I am, even with the Blazer lead round nose stuff I was shooting.

The Simmons scope, while having big magnification and a large objective, was disappointing. Granted, the relatively low-light conditions inside an indoor range might not be fair to judge a scope, but I imagine that better glass would have much better quality, clarity, etc.

I am surprised that Ruger chambered the American in 22LR and created another rifle to compete with its own 77/22. The price points are so different I would think it would affect 77/22 sales greatly.

The American 22LR is not listed on Ruger's webb site. When did it come out?

It has been on their site for a while:
Ruger American Rimfire? Compact Bolt-Action Rifle Models

It's a whole different game than the other Rugers & Savage, Marlin and others sell alot at the price point of these RAR's.

My personal opinion tells me Ruger will probably sell 20 or more of the RAR .22 per each Model 77/22 sale and will probably corner the "Working Man" market for guys looking to purchase a reliable and accurate bolt-action .22 rifle.

I'm old school and still appreciate a finely blued gun with a real wood stock but I am also retired and disposable money is a little harder to come up with these days. The Shooting times article says they could get a .33" group on a target at 50 yards and that sounds deadly to squirrels and rabbits to me. The .17 and .22 Magnum variants will shoot similar groups.

There is a very competitive market for guns these days and this RAR is going to be a big winner.

I love the RAR 243 I bought.

Now that I saw it is available in .22 I definitely have it on my list.

I saw one locally but they have sold all of them. I guess I better be a bit quicker on the trigger if I want one!

You are correct, I was looking in the wrong place on their site. I am sure the RAR .22 will do very well. My only problem with it is now I have "another" rifle I have to put on my must have list. Interesting that the RAR .22 is selling at the same price I paid for my 77/22 about 30 years ago.
