American 30-06

I just bought a nice Ruger American in 30-06. I also got a Bushnell 3-9-40 scope for it. It seems like it is a pretty good combo, the scope went right on there like it was meant to be and looks great. I have yet to shoot it but thats coming very soon. Anyone have one? If so how do you like it? Thanks -Chip-

I have one in .308. Medium rings for the 3x9x40 are just right. It's a certified shooter!!!
You will love it!!!!

I have a Ruger American in .30-06. At first I though, "ehhhh". But, after reading the reviews, I had a change of heart. Personally, I don't feel the need for a fancy rifle, though they certainly are a joy. But, if the Ruger American functions reliably, shoots accurately and keeps on chuggin', I'll be more than pleased.
I've been busy with the Ruger SR45 and haven't been able to find time to get to the range for wringing American, too. It's is still probably under a blanket of snow in the river valley area a few miles from me. Hopefully, that will change soon. One thing that has changed in my thinking since the years have piled up is the lighter weight rifle does make a difference - certainly noticeable when comparing the Ruger with a 1917 Eddystone. The rifle is easy to carry - though I expect the recoil to get my attention - but, that's okay. It's an -06! It's supposed to kick!

My American is .308, I've ran a 3-9X40 Nikon on it and got groups less than 1.2 at 200 yds with it. I just installed a 4.5-14X40 Nikon on it but have only shot it at 100 yds so far.
I love my American, quite satisfied!!!

Congrats, I'm sure you'll love it! I was going to get one in .243 but the recent ammo shortage put a halt to that. What's the point in buying a rifle if you can't get the ammo, and may not be able to get ammo for the next year at least? So I just gobbled up some other ammo for stuff I already have instead. I like them, I like their trigger and safety especially. I will get one someday when things settle down.

Congrats on the rifle... I have one in .30-06 topped it with a Redfield 2-7 x 32 that is really nice set up.... I am using it right now for an article on the new Hornady American Whitetail... 150 grain Interlock. The rifle shoots this ammo really good... probably the best I have shot through this rifle.... the only problem I have with the rifle is that I wish it had a trigger guard that could be replaced if needed.... would also like a metal magazine...

I just picked up a Ruger American 30-06 a couple days ago also.

Ammo came today so I'll be able to shoot it in the next couple days.

Seems a decent rifle so far.

While I'm a major Ruger fan my choice for my hunting rifles are Savage. My current rifle is a Savage 116 FCSS 30-06 with an accu-stock and accu-trigger. They are extremely accurate rifles. Congrats on the American rifle...I've heard lots of good things about them.

Well I finally got to shoot my rifle. Overall i am really happy with it. I was able to dial the scope right in within about 10 shots. After that it was dead on for the rest of the 50 rounds i sent downrange. The only bad thing that happened was the little red plastic ruger symbol on the bottom of the hand grip fell off after 15 rounds. Here is a pic of that
