I just ordered a stainless Hawkeye in .280 Rem. This is the only model they offer in that cal now. It is my prefered configuration for it however so that works out well. The .280 is the cal I used on my first successful hunting trip. That gun was owned by my father-in-law until he traded it. It was also a stainless MKII with the old style, imbedded logo stock. I purchased one for myself and later traded it for the laminated sporter. Those were also .280 cal. Traded off the laminated sporter. They were all nice guns but the polished stainless was a bit bright for that application. I am very excited about the new finish and synthetic stock.

rugerfan, I have a Remington Mod 700 in the 280 Rem. It is one of the best cartridges available yet gets very little attention. You're going to like that Hawkeye .... great gun, great cartridge!!!

that LC-6 trigger ruger has put into the hawkeye and late production mkii rifles is a nice improvement.
