I said all along when they offered it in .22-250 I'd get one. Well, I guess it's time!

I just bought one in 243 and if they make one in 6.5 Creedmore I'll get one of them as well.

I'm kind of surprised they went with the .22-250 instead of their own .204.

I'm not. Sometimes ya gotta go with what will sell and not just to get your own name out there. the .22-250 has a looong standing reputation and a much larger following than the .204 Ruger. Both good cartridges in their own right but I believe the .22-250 is a bit more versatile, especially for the hand loader.

I'd been kinda waiting for a decent budget centerfire and when the American came along, I thought "this is it". Have had other things to use the funds on and it wasn't a priority so I waited. I do like the compact that's to be available now. I like both the .243 and 7-08 so that part is gonna be the "hmmmmm" factor. Thinking it'll be a good centerfire starter for my son, a small statured little guy, the .243 will probably get the nod. Even more so since I would like to add a #1A in that same chambering.

The 7mm-08 might be something to look, in the compact version...

Yeah I would like to get my girlfriend the compact model in .243, but she is dead set on a semi auto, and she is a great shot, so she'll get what she wants, naturally!
