Sorry - I see you did mention that up in the thread and I missed it.

I did get a replacement gun once and didn't do any FFL paperwork...... Maybe my LGS screwed up that time. It was under warranty and the distributor (not the manufacturer) sent a replacement to the store and they just handed it to me. But it was at the LGS and not sent to my house. Sometimes the FFL rules confuse the heck out of me!

Unhappy Bolt action problem

Took my new 270 American rifle to the range to sight it in on 12-13-12 and used 270 Win. 130 grn. ammo. Shot 15 rounds. The Problem is that after each shot, opening the bolt required extra force. Has anyone with other calibers had this problem or is it just the 270? I have e-mailed Ruger and hope to hear from them soon.

Have not had any problems with mine; it's a .308 and have shot a few different brands, also some reloads in 150/168gr...

Yes I did read your post, I was just wondering if the problem was on the 270 cal. rifle only. I see you got yours replaced. Did you have any problems with the ship-out on your rifle or on recieving the new one? Thanks for the info. and congrats. on your buck. I wanted to go hunting this wkd. but i thought it unwise to use this rifle so i'll just have to wait.

they sent me a pre paid ups label, and i threw in the box and droped it off at a ups store no problem, the only problem i had was my gun shop (ffl)had to re mail out a copy of his ffl, because some how ruger lost it,and i told them i was p off about it.my new gun feels a little tight after i shoot it still.if this gun ends up being junk also i might never buy another ruger again

I have no problems with my RAR .270 other than barrel heat after 30 rounds or so, but I think that more from firing too fast in succession.

I've shot about 80 rounds with it, using the regular Federal 150 grain and Academy Monarch, also 150 grain. I like the 150s because it seems to help my grouping.
