I have a foreign market Scout 308 which is sold without the flash suppressor.
I'd like to thread the end with a 5/8-24 thread like the USA market version, which will involve shifting the front sight back to create enough space. This is so I can fit either a silencer or a flash suppressor.
Does anyone think this is feasible? How long of a thread is needed for a safe and secure fit of any muzzle devices? I think I'll only be able to thread 8mm of the end, any more and I'll have to remove the front sight all together, which is something I Don't want to do.

The front sight can be moved back 12mm which gives way enough 5/8-24 thread for a solid mount for either FH or MB.
