I've been wanting one of these for awhile now, just seems like a really fun yet capable rifle, mostly though because remington seems to have killed marlin's 1894s off (or at least are producing them so slowly they seem to not exist anymore).

They truely are well built little bolt action carbines, Ruger hit a homerun with the 77/357...I have a older (JM) Marlin 1894 CB that is a tack driver and my 77/357 rivals it in the accuracy department...

I dunno what is going on with Remlin...I do know that have a hard time find an older marlin for sale and when I do they want an arm and a leg for it...

Do you think it's the 1:16 twist ruger uses (as opposed to the 1:38 twist marlin does if memory serves) or comfortability with the weapon itself?

I don't have this rifle, but I did consider one in .308 before I bought my Remmy 700 SPS in .308. I have a 50mm obj lens Bushnell Elite mounted on my Remmy with high rings and have no problem with the bolt, but my bolt is angled differently.

Have you checked around to see if there are aftermarket bolt handles with a different angle? I know there are for Remmy's.

I just like the older (JM) Marlins, My CB is truely a nice lever action. The 77/357 is a great little carbine too, just a different style.

They both are very accurate and as such I never really gave the rate of twist to the rifling much thought...I can get palm sized groups at 100 yards with either, which is about as good as I can do. Somebody who can shoot better than I could probably shrink that down to an inch inch and a half.

Got pics added, have since put some rounds downrange and got the scope dialed in, I really like it! Several of my IDPA buds shot it yesterday, they liked the whole setup a lot more than they thought they would.

Very nice!

I had my 77/357 to the range last weekend...I've been putting some rounds through it and the action has gotten smoother with use....

The UltraDot looks nice...I'm still using the ProPoint II, though I have been thinking about maybe changing it out for something else...
