| Bolt Shims
Hi all, new member here...........was reading through several posts and a member mentioned that he had shims for the bolt of his 77/22 Hornet on the way to him. A later post indicated he had received them but no installation as of yet. My question is where does one acquire pre-made shims for this particular application?

You can make you own from shim stock. It comes in sheets of different thicknesses and cam be obtained from Brownells or a local machine shop or supply.
Start with brass stock and cut with scissors. It will basically look like a washer and goes between the two bolt half's. After finding a thickness that works make a more long lasting one from steel stock. Good luck

Is it a new 77/22 Hornet? Or used for a while.

You can try this place. I haven't used them but, saw a post a long time ago where they were recommended. McMaster-Carr
Measure and get the size you need.
Good Luck

I got them from McMaster. Put them in my 77/22 Hornet and 77/22LR. Made a difference in group size, especially the Hornet.

| Received a shim kit today and I agree they are top quality. Couldn't close the bolt using the .005 shim but the .003 seems to be working just fine. Funny though, some say the bolt will be stiff closing after using shims but mine closes the same but is stiffer opening. Have only tested at 35 yards but groups have been cut in half if not more. Will move to 50 then 100 yards when the weather improves.
