So I'm looking at Ruger's website ( Ruger® M77® Hawkeye® Standard Bolt-Action Rifle Models
), and I see something that strikes me as odd:
The 257 Roberts is listed as an 8-lb gun with a 22" bbl
The 25-06 is listed as an 8.25-lb gun with a 24" bbl The 6.5 Creedmoor is listed as a 7.25-lb gun with a 24" bbl
Even the 270 is listed at 8 lbs w/22", so it doesn't seem as though this is to do with the size of the hole/bore. There is a similar 'oddity' in the All Weather/stainless line.
How in the world is the Creed a 3/4-lb lighter gun? I called Ruger to ask if it might be a type-o, and they said no, it's definitely accurate, but weren't sure what the difference would be unless the barrel profiles are different.
So, has anyone seen these rifles side-by-side? Or measured the barrel diameter at the muzzle? Are the Creeds lighter bbls?
As a secondary question: Are the 257 Roberts rifles long actions or short actions?
