Does anyone know where I can find a STEEL trigger guard for m77 with a tang safety?

I have been able to find some for the Mk. II, will these work?

I just hate the aluminum ones that come on them, worst part of the whole rifle in my opinion.

Thanks!

Ruger used to offer the 458 mag version with a steel trigger guard. Note this was the regular 77 action not the 77 rsm. Perhaps ruger still stocks this asa replacement item. If not try the company that makes steel guards for the remingtom 700. the name eludes me but they advertise in Rifle shooter and Hand loader magazines.

Ok, here's the dope:

The trigger guard is available from Moyers. Moyers only makes the floorplate for the long action; the short action floorplate is available from Ruger. Its the same as the current M77 Hawkeye's floorplate. I was informed of this by Moyers. I believe a small company before a huge corporation.

FYI, as a rule of thumb, no parts for a tang safety are interchangeable with the Mk. II's or Hawkeye's. Though the Mk. II's and Hawkeyes are.

Thanks for y'all's help! Merry Christmas!

MkII trigger guard on a Tang safety

I purchased a MkII trigger guard from Midway and adapted it to work on my tang safety Ruger. The screw holes are closer together on the MkII guard, so I cut the the guard, spaced the pieces to the desired screw hole spacing and welded it back together with some filler metal to fill the gaps. Shaped it with the Dremel. Works for me. Purchasing a after market part is probably cheaper in the long run.
