M77 Mark II and M77 Hawkeye differences

Is there a difference in the action between the current M77 Mark II and the new M77 Hawkeye? (the ones on the Ruger site)

Reason is all the aftermarket stock companies and even some trigger companies list the Mark II but not the hawkeye

Anyone at all?

There just doesn't seem to be much listing for the Hawkeye in the aftermarket scene

I googled it. Here is what I found.... From the Shootersforum.com "It's my understanding that the differences between the Hawkeye, and the MKII are in the metal finish, the stock shape, and finish, and the trigger. Otherwise they are the same gun. The new trigger is a better deal for a couple of reasons. Old stocks should fit since barrel contours, etc. have remained the same to my knowledge." "

as long as it is a Mark II and not a tang safety model you should be fine.
and i agree with NHLever that the trigger on the new hawkeye should be
a much more desireable trigger over the factory mark II."

That is all I have found that I thought might be relavent to your question. I personally do not have, nor have seen or shot, either of these rifles. A search on google can bring up many results and you can choose what really answers your question

Cool, thanks for that

I have to ask though, whats a tang safety
I thought the hawkeye had the 3 stage tanged safety

EDIT

Not a worry
Found out the older style M77's had a so called tang safety and the newer M77's have the 3 stage flip safety

yup mjr350, the older 77 series had the "tang" safety just to the rear of the bolt and the m77 safety is either on the right or left side of the bolt and is 3 position ...
