Agreed, the rifle will tell you, mine tell me when they need cleaning.....accuracy falls off.

There really is no "Magic" number when it comes to rounds fired, more barrel life is lost due to the shooter, by this I mean the shooter who shoots his shots back to back to back.

Not allowing the barrel to cool in between shots will decrease the life of your barrel, in turn lowering your total round count.

I have M77 V/T's in 22-250, 25-06 and 204 Ruger, the oldest being the 22-250 which was made in '91. Very seldom do I rapid fire it unless it's a PD hunt and it shoots as good as when I bought it.

Just my .05 cents worth, (inflation).

It will also depend if you are shooting hot hand loads or factory rounds. But the guys above me pretty much nailed it.

I competed PRS events with a 65CM for 8yrs (not Rugers).
Anywhere from 3000-3500rds with 140's around 2800fps (usually Bartlein barrels, with a few Rocks throw in).
