RPR and Hunting

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here used their Precision Rifle for hunting? It of course has QD sling points, but it seems pretty heavy for any field work.

A very good friend of mine dropped a doe at 280 yds with his RPR 6.5 Creedmoor at 280 yards last fall. Headshot, and dropped dead where she stood. No meat ruined. I do not know if he had a sling though. He had it suppressed too, so I know it was about a pound heavier than stock.

It is doable, but I have not done it personally.

Yeh, the stock RPR is pushing 11 pounds. I wouldn't buy one to serve primarily as a hunting gun. But, if that was all I owned, I would totally hunt with it.

Would be fine for stand hunting or beanfield hunting. Many long range setups are not much lighter.

Sambar Hunter will become famous soon enough
I bought a .308 RPR for doing medium distance deer hunting over fields and gullys etc. It replaced a .308 Ruger scout in a Mark 2 chassis I used to use for that job. Defiantly wouldn't use it for "stalking " rifle its like a fence post to carry..
