Model 77 changes?

When did Ruger start putting their proprietary scope mounts on the Model 77? I bought a used Model 77 in the early 70's that was tapped for regular scope mounts,,,I also bought a new one in 1976 that had the Ruger mounts. I can't seem to pin a date down on the change.

Well, some of my sources came through today and apparently Ruger was making round-top receivers and receivers with integral scope mounts from 1968 on. The difference seems to be that the long actions were round top and the first short actions had integral mounts. At some point they dropped the round-top receiver completely.

I'm thinking of calling Ruger just to see if this is correct. My first Ruger was a 30-06 with the round top, so it makes sense.
