Pretty cool. Makes sense to bring the RPR out in the common 223/556.

Lots more competition in this caliber with options that are less costly and potentially just as accurate. I don't think it'll do as well as their larger caliber rifles. While cool, I'm not gonna jump at getting one. Maybe it's bc I already have a precision AR that is sub moa for just about the same price?

To be clear...I LOVE my precious RPR in .308. It's far better than I am.
But why .223/5.56? Someone school me.
The RPR, well, this is a long range rifle and the .223 is only OK at 600yds, but that 's about it IMO. ??Hmmmm.

Good question, and it was my thought as well. Its been my experience, as limited as it may be, that .223 hasn't been all that great as far as accuracy is concerned. I do much better with a .308.

I had a 10x scope on my .223 (semi auto, not bolt) at one point but switched back to an EOTech and 3x magnifier and use it strictly for CQB situations.

I was more surprised they had the same suggested retail price as the other variations.

could be Ruger is looking to fill a niche
a lot or shooters don't shoot 1000 yds or a mile
a lot of shooters shoot at 500 or less yds much more often than longer distances
could be a selling point for this rifle. softer recoil, common caliber. we'll see how it sells.

You shooting a carbine length gas system with a short light barrel ? Try a full rifle length gas system with a longer heavy barrel. BIG difference.

I've been long awaiting this rifle, was VERY excited to see it hit the website, however, at an MSRP of $1599....Mossberg MVP is still my first choice.

Good points. All my experience has been with shorter barrels.

They killed the .243 for the 6mm Creedmore. The longer barrel on the 6mm should really allow you to spin a round down range.

The 556 is lowest cost per round option but the 6mm should have some nice legs.

I already have a Stag Model 6 for .223/556 accurate long range shooting. I'll have to see if the new RPR can do as well.

If you're paying full suggested MSRP, you need to change LGS or stay away from the big box stores.
