Ruger Precision alternate calibers
I have recently purchased a Ruger Precision Rifle after an extended search to find an affordable long range shooting system.
My military background has made me become very comfortable with the M4/M16 weapon system. When I examined the Precision I felt very comfortable with the muscle memory that I already had built, albeit in a semi-auto format.
I have decided on the RPR for the additional reason of feeling very comfortable with the ability to utilize the caliber of my choice in short action form. I am familiar with Chad Dixon of LRI and the caliber options he has put out.
I am wanting to be able to train realistically and affordably. I am calculating the costs of reloading various calibers and am already turning my own loads but I also recognize the cost in training time and muscle memory and the influence of recoil.
With that last statement still hanging in the air...
Has anyone contemplated or examined the possibility of transforming their RPR into a .223/5.56?
Before anyone brings up the case head size being smaller, I am aware of this and already have heard of smiths being able to 'change' the bolt face. Any information would be greatly appreciate and thank you in advance.
