ruger american predator in 204

Looking at a new american predator in 204 caliber, anybody got any comments, good or bad about the accuracy of these rifles. Does ruger have a guarantee of moa on these. Not sure of the wording they use "offer MOA". thanks

I know a guy who has one in .223...............shoots great.

The .204 is a flat fast round. I have an M77 V/T in .204, my best group to date at 100yds is .116". I've kicking around the idea of getting one myself for a "beater" gun.

I would have no reservations about purchasing it. I haven't had a Ruger yet that didn't shoot.

I was at the range about 3 weeks ago, and a guy was there with his .204 RAP with a Boyd's stock and he said he trimmed the trigger spring. He was rather annoyed that he couldn't get .5 moa with that gun in his lead sled.

I don't know if the barrel was truly free floating, or not, but he was testing two different powders with a couple of different bullet types. He was using the OCW (or OWC I can't remember the acronym).

It wasn't him that was the problem either. I watched him shoot about 1/4 moa out of his Savage model 12, chambered in .223 at the same bench.

I have heard of several stories where people have had problems with Ruger Americans related to accuracy. But these are mass produced firearms. There are going to be a few that will have problems out of the tens of thousands that are produced.

My 6.5 RAP is great. I like the rifle more every time I shoot it.

are you guys using the red box(varmint) ammo or the brown box with red writing(I don't know what the name of this is other than vmax)?

I have a RAP 204 and it is my favorite rifle. I'm a hunter so I don't simply strive to punch the same hole in a piece of paper repeatedly, but sighting in my scope was consistent and easy shooting and haven't missed a live target yet. Factory stock and factory trigger adjusted to the lowest setting.

I use the Superformance Varmint ammo (vmax, red box) 32gr or 40gr, the gun doesn't care which.
