Read all the posts about the issues with short bullets in this rifle. Are Barnes sold bullets longer than those with lead core in the same weight. Would they work better than a bullet with the same weight that is shorter?

The 7 mm made its reputation with heavy for caliber bullets.

I would suggest using a 139 grain 7mm Hornady Interlock Bullet. Been using this same bullet design in .243 & .270 caliber for years great bullet. Just a suggestion

My 77 7x57 is not the best shooter from the bench but I've had some luck in the field with it. I've mostly shot 139 grain Hornady bullets since I stumbled on an old Clay Harvey load that tightened up the groups better than anything I've tried so far.

Not sure on the answer to your question about bullet length, but my guess is the non leaded would have to be longer to carry the same weight in the same diameter.
