Finally upgraded my RAP.

Got the Boyd's pro varmint, had to do a small amount of sanding since the barrel channel is for the regular American. Glass bedded the v blocks with acraglass gel. Now just wanting on the weekend to shoot it. Hopefully it still shoots as good as it did and I didn't screw it up haha. Gonna have to put some washers under the magazine tab it also. Eventually gonna send it off to cdi for bottom metal to run aics mags.

Oh me too lol. Won't lie little nervous about the bedding job but turned out good. Thought I stuck the action to the stock, but two whacks with a rubber mallet and she came right out.

Nice! But that's a "RAR" (Ruger American Rifle), not a "RAP" (Ruger American Pistol), so your title is a bit misleading. ;-)

I realize you meant Ruger American Predator, but I think RAP has been taken already by the pistol. It's all confusing, I admit.

RAP referred to the Ruger American Predator before the American Pistol even came out.
It is the Ruger American Pistol that is to blame for stealing the nomenclature from the Predator!
Renaming it the RARP would be a fix for the confusion.

I love that stock!

Lol true! Thanks it feels real good off the bench. It shot pretty well today. I did four 3 shot groups and one 5 shot group. Completely cleaned the barrel before testing accuracy. 1st group was 1.5" 2nd group was 1.2" ( this has always been normal for this rifle starting from a clean bore). 3rd group came it at .95", 4th group at .78". And decided to try some new 140 ELD match factory loads. 5 shots went into .76" I honestly believe it will do better, but I was just not having a good day focus wise. Honestly though that's plenty tight enough for any hunting I'll ever be doing. The factory stock so far is still holding the edge in accuracy, but I believe this one will be just as good when I give it a fair chance, and not rushing to be late for my niece's bday party.

Looking good and sounds like it will shoot once it settles in to the new stock. How does the adjustable comb feel on your face? I shouldered a stock just like yours at a show and it pinched my face and was wondering if there was a problem when the rifle recoiled.
I would like to put my 338Wm in one but the adjustable comb is the hold up.

The front of the comb seems pretty sharp. I actually have not used it because with it all the way down is perfect for my scope height.

No problem! Next time I shoot I'll try the comb see if it may cause an issue.

Nice Upgrade, Me too & Boyd's stock too

That looks like a good varminter and coyote or pronghorn rifle you've got there.

1. I put a brown laminated Boyd's Classic stock (high comb, low cheekpiece) on my RAP. It also has beautifully laser engraved "fish scale" checkering with Fluer-de-lis borders. The checkering makes it even more custom toking.

2. Also I added a metal Savage 110 trigger guard (fits perfectly) B/C the plastic Boyd's trigger guard looked cheap. Got it from Brownell's.

3. A Timney trigger completed the upgrade and added to the accuracy.

BUT... being a gear-aholic I'm soon sending my bolt away to get spiral grooves machined into it. For $75. it's not a bad upgrade.

I topped my RAP off with a SWFA 5 - 15 x 42 scope. Great glass, FFP plus mil/mil turrets and reticle. Good quality and features for the price, just like the rifle.

Eric B.
BTW, I've added even more upgrades to my Ruger Precision Rifle.

I have the metal savage trigger guard in my cart on brownells website just have not ordered it yet. I'll be running some reloads through mine Saturday. I've only shot factory rounds with the new stock. Have not had spare time to load any. So far have not had great luck with the precision hunter eldx 143 grain or the eld match. Which has me puzzled cause everyone praises them. I never shot the with the factory stock installed either though. Just got a fresh shipment of 140 grain Sierra gamekings in the mail today. Gonna load some up with H4350 and RL17 to try. With the factory stock and H4350/ gameking combo the rifle was a solid 1/2" performer. Also what do you have your action screws torqued to in the Boyd's stock? Mines at 35 in/lbs but loosened up on me shooting last weekend. Boyd's recommended 30-35 in/lbs. I also had to use a washer under the magazine tab and file the tab some for it to feed properly. Don't know if this might be causing issue or not. The American whitetail 129 sp has proven to be a sub moa load with smallest at .6 and largest at .9 so that has me a little hopeful I didn't wast my money on the stock lol.
