Question on Hawkeye rifles

Hello all, For a graduation gift I would like to buy my son a M77 Hawkeye rifle. He always wanted one chambered in .338 Win. Mag. Looking in the catalog I see all of the Hawkeye rifles without sights. Probably not an issue because I think he will want a scope, but is there aftermarket iron sights that are compatible with these rifles,or is scoping it the only option? thank you for any input and advice, as I am not very well versed in rifles.

I think you can get a good gunsmith to put iron sights on it if you desire. Most would scope it. The Hawkeye has the Ruger scope mount system on it for extra rigidity (good stuff).

Many if not most of the modern bolt action rifles come without iron sights.

I myself always did like the idea of having "iron-sights" on my hunting rifle! Yes, you can have iron sights installed on a model 77 Ruger. The sights will cost you around the $100 dollar plus area and the labor should be around another $100 bucks.

This is one reason I always purchased Winchester model 70 rifles, they came with all the Bells & Whistles from the factory installed already. I don't think their new rifles have those irons on them either.

I thought the Ruger Hawk-Eye rifle did have the iron sights? Manufactorer's have gotten away from the iron sights, to many nowdays try to sell you the rifle scope, rings and mounts instead. I have always like the .338 Win mag and I purchased my son one 10 years ago. He really likes his .338 Win mag!
