Yet to hear a rumor of such let alone any actual announcement.

I have confirmed they are now in production and in stock at a dealer in Michigan. $529 for a 450 bushmaster with 16" barrel. 22" nonthreaded model coming in 2 weeks and will be $499

Two members in this post with them, nothing on Rugers website, and no other information on the net. Definitely interesting and of all the calibers out there why this one?

I purchased one yesterday as well. To answer your question TMD, the reason this caliber was chosen is that many deer hunters in the non rifle zone of Michigan were looking for an alternative to using a shotgun. A law was passed a couple years back allowing rifles to be used in this zone as long as the caliber was a straight walled pistol cartridge under a certain specified length. Examples would be .44 mag, .357 mag, etc. .450 Bushmaster meets the criteria but was only available basically in an AR platform or as a custom build. One of our local shops was able to get Ruger to make a run of Americans in this caliber.
One thing I can say about it is they are selling fast!
Scout41 your barrel should actually be 16" unless you purchased a muzzle brake and are counting that in the length. 22" versions will be available in a couple weeks im told but they will not have a threaded barrel and the stock will be black.

You might be right, it may be 16" but it does have the threaded barrel.
