I have not tried it personally. I think the scout scope has its merits with such a rifle: LER/IER for quick and/or close range shots, combined with light weight.
The Leupold you mention has eye relief of 4" so it's a traditional mounted scope obviously, but it is light weight at 9.5 oz.

If you don't care about the scout configuration and prefer a traditional mounting, then I think it would work well.

I don't have one of those brands but I do have a Leupold 2.5X28 Scout and I love it. It's only 7 oz. on my scale and the Leupold Rifleman low rings only add 1 oz. each. The optics are very bright and sharp. If you are not set on one of the three above you might like one of these.

I have the older VX-3 1.5-5X20 on a Winchester 1894 and I like it very much. I would probably choose this for my GSR if I wanted to use the receiver mount but I decided I wanted the forward mounted Scout scope.

Leupold does make a 1.5-5x Scout scope, and as a bonus it has the FireDot lighted reticle, which uses a motion sensor to preserve battery life.
It has been on my wish list for some time now, but the $600 needed to purchase one has been going for other things, like motorcycle accessories and stocking up on Mini-30 magazines in case "Hildabeast" is elected.

While I put a standard scope on mine for load development, I bought it for use with iron sights and with the ghost ring it excels for that purpose. I do plan to buy a Scout type scope, probably the Burris.

I run a Vortex 4-16 in the traditional mount, using Warne QD rings. I was shooting clay pigeons at 700 yards on Tuesday - not sure who or why some think the GSR is not accurate. Maybe I got a good one, or my break in / fouling is at the right stage. Also, I am using a Thunderbeast Ultra 7 can, which no doubt helps more with pattern than suppression! Back to the thread though, those Warne rings cost me $90, and I am now looking at adding a Flir RS32 to my options for my GSR optics. The Flir mounts to a std. Pic rail. POINT of my ramble, if you think there is ANY chance of using your GSR in other arenas, consider adding a standard Pic scope rail over your receiver to start with and maybe save yourself some time and money. It may be the "one gun" but it's awesomeness may require more than one optical option.

The GSR really continues to impress me. Excellent practical accuracy. Wow. I have played with several pistol scopes and they all seem to work fine. If you get lucky and find a clean Tasco or Simmons redline pistol scope from the 80s marked Japan pick them up. They are excellent optically and strong. Work great on the GSR. Mine is wearing a 2x20 Tasco. I prefer this over my 2x Leopold scope on a T/C. It comes down to reticle thickness for me. I can't use my target pistol scopes for this reason on the Scout. Plus any high turrets are deal breakers. The Tascos and Leupolds have been on 44 mag and 45-70 T/C bbls and are still rock solid.
