Cheap bolt? Prove it. Or are you troll?

Good grief. My RA .308 gets near 1" groups at 200 yard with my handloads. Must be the only one since it's such a crappy gun.

No it just shows inconsistency in the production.

When I first got my RA 30-06 in 2014 I mounted my scope, loaded up some Federal Fusion Ammo, but couldn't get any consistency to zero the scope. I'd shoot a round, clean the barrel, let it cool down 5 minutes, shoot another round, rinse & repeat. After (4) different 5 shot groups over the course of three weeks, it was all over the place. I seriously thought the scope was broke.

Then I decided to try the cheaper Federal Power-Shok, and was soon hitting 1.5 MOA @ 100 yards. Ever since then, each season I take it out, fire one shot on paper to test zero, and then go out and kill a deer.

Not saying the RA is the finest deer rifle, but after finding a load it likes, I've killed every deer I've shot at.

Nah go for it. Let's hear what qualifies it as a cheap bolt. I'm sure you must be a professional metalurgist or something.

Hey, what grain bullets are you getting the good accuracy with in the federal power shocks? I'm in trying to get my sons dialed in, and am getting 4-5" groups at 50 yards with various factory ammo in 165 grain.

I think it's 150 grain. I'll verify and update soon.

when i got my RAR in .308 coupla years ago i put on a leupold scope, "dialed in" the scope with a Bushnell bore sighter, loaded up some 180 gr. nosler sp and headed to the range. very first shot off a bench over sand bag at 100 yds. hit the X dead center. i was more than impressed. next 3 shots opened up to 3". i was less than impressed. load development has gotten it down to about 2". i have since killed 5 deer with it at under 100 yds. i like the weight and feel of it but am not at all impressed w/the accuracy. after reading this thread i feel better. thanks

If you can, update the thread after shooting the 180 grain, I'm curious how that load works for you.

So believe it or not, both the 150 grain and 180 grain .30-06 Federal blue box power shock ammo shot overlapping cloverleafs at 50 yards. Plus, my stringing problems are non existent too. Fusion 180 grains were pretty decent as well. I posted what I did in another thread, but basically put a new scope on and loosened the stock/action allen screws into the receiver. I think it was a very bad scope that caused the problems, but I know I over torqued the screws holding the stock to the action too. I just backed them off a 1/2 turn. Super happy, and can confidently hunt with the 180 grain federals now.
