I got a Hawkeye All Weather for Christmas just before they got discoed. Mounted my Leupold scope. All mounts tight. Shot it today. First 3 rounds went 1" OK
every 3 rounds after that shifted left and high would not adjust.

So what do you think. Full bed? Hog out some stock and Free float?
there is no getting any kind of paper btw the barrel and stock now
I've done the acraglass before
anybody?

I'm no gunsmith, and by no means a ruger expert, but I do own a Hawkeye.

Assuming it's not the optics, open up the floor plate and check to see if the mag well box is loose (slight rattle) or if it's tightly snug. If it's snug and quiet it could be binding the action creating stress. I had a wood stocked Hawkeye that didn't settle down till I modified the mag well such that it was still a tad loose when all the action screws were tighten. Since then it's been a steady sub MOA performer at the bench. I got this tip from this same site under "M77 accuracy tip", try a search for that. The thread will discuss in detail how you can fix this yourself with a metal file. It worked for my rifle.

If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you..........other than good luck with all that other stuff.

Then again, there's always the local prayer list.

Sorry, I guess I should of asked how was the grouping of the following shots. If these are consistent and just will not respond to adjustments that should be a scope issue. My comments above assumed you were not getting consistent grouping as well. Hope it works out for you, that is a nice rifle.

the first 3 rounds went one inch. That's good. every subsequent 3 round group climbed higher and opened up. Scope just refurbished by Leupold.
I found the action screws not very tight at all (basically finger tight). I did the re-assembly steps as shown by Ruger. and tightened according to spec.
Ruger wants me to get an RMA number and send it back. I told them I will shoot it again to check it before I do that.

Loose action screws from the factory are not uncommon, in fact I'm always impressed when I don't have to go in and torque them to spec on any new rifle. That could be your problem right there. I'd be surprised if the Leupold had issues but I guess it's still possible. My first range session, I was just hoping for 1.5" groups, but when it came back 2.5"-3.25" I thought for sure it should do better. I checked the screw torque and it was fine. Switched scopes and was still having issues. Stumbled across the mag well tip on this board and once I modified the box, groups shrank well within my expectations. I'm not that good a bench shooter, and my set-up and technique will always pose questions, but I feel a whole lot better about this rifle after filing the box a bit.
