Ruger 10/22 TD - Barrel Question

Does the Take Down version use the same barrel as the regular (non-TD) versions?

Waiting on delivery of my 1st ever 10/22, so I don't have any way of knowing if they are the same.

Any insight would be appreciated.

No. The TD barrel is different at the breech end to facilitate the TD feature.

Thanks very much for answering that.

I wonder if anybody is making bull barrels for these TD's yet? Seems to me that this will be a good moneymaker for someone in the custom barrel business, like Volquartsen, etc.

A big barrel would be interesting, but it defeats the original purpose of a light-weight, portable rifle. What would be neat is a way to shoot 17HM2 out of the same rifle!!

Check out user 'Couch' over at Remfire Central. He's done some bull barrel mods for the TD.

You can modify a standard barrel. I bought a tactical innovations barrel and did the machine work myself to make it fit. I also made all of the latch parts myself, because Ruger wasn't offering parts yet. If you don't need to swap barrels quickly a new latch isn't necessary. your local gunsmith should be able to modify a barrel for you.
