I know it is more of a personal preference ,but for you 10/22 affecionados do you prefer buying the whole trigger group or gutting and rebuilding the factory housing?

I am getting my first 10/22(I-TAC Talo) soon, and I had no idea how popular this rifle was and how much you could do with it.

I see this as more of a fun plinker to teach my kids and for me to have some fun just shooting. So what else should I look at? I am getting some iron sights and maybee a red dot down the road.

Trust me I have, I have looked at the dozens of places that have upgrades. I know the most common are the bolt buffer, auto bolt, cocking assembly, trigger, ext mag release etc... but other than the bolt buffer and some minor trigger tweaks is all the other stuff just personal preference?

For me, being I don't have the funds to spend, I went with a bolt buffer, trigger job (new trigger weight of 3lbs) an auto bolt release and extended mag release for less than $75. Being this 10/22 is just for plinking and not needing something with great accuracy, I felt all the high dollar items were just overkill!!!

So, I feel the factory stuff is good enough but can be made a bit better with out spending to much. That is whats so great about the 10/22, you can get the gun you want, just depends on how much cash you are willing to part with!!

Thanks WG! Thats about what I am thinking. Brimstone seems like a good option for trigger stuff too. But it all seems fairly simple watching a few YT vids. Just want to enhance the simplicity of the 10/22 design and have some fun.

For $35 Brimstone sets your pull weight where you specify it and does the auto bolt release both...you mail him your trigger group...he mails it back... total shipping $10...

He recommends letting him give it to you at 2.5lbs he calls it the "sweet spot" .... that is what I did ... I am very happy with the results...I am sure you can get a bolt buffer from him too...

Thanks ZG, your other posts is where I found out about those guys so thank you on that. Im a research junkie so I try to do my homework prior to asking questions. But it never hurts to get multiple options and advice when its helpful.

Your welcome... lithgow303 is the one who told me about Brimstone... at the time I had a VQ drop in...hated the creep...was fine with the pull weight...303 said he had several done...I read on his website how he talks about the creep from drop in parts...it all had the ring of truth to it...so being a cheapo and not needing state of the art trigger group it was an easy decision...

303 must have fifty rifles... half of them are 22s...half of those are 1022s... he has (that I know of) at least one Hornet trigger group, the high end Kidd custom trigger group, at least one low end Brimstone, and at least one high end Brimstone...minimum...

So my personal experience plus what is said in Brimstone's article...combined with 303s endorsement...okay...I'll risk $35 having my SPARE trigger group done and see what it really is...what is is more than good enough for me at this time...therefore I am going to get a second one done exactly the same way... :D
