Whats worked for me is lightly polishing the inside of the receiver where the bolt resides. I've used steel wool or scotch-brite. One of my 10/22 had lots of Black over-spray in there. Polishing it helped a lot. My other 10/22 TD had a much better finish but I still polished it and the bolts action got smoother.

Have a rarr 223/5.56. The bolt will not lock on some reloads (OAl 2.25, brass 1.75, all cases checked and are ok), is the a neck issue?

I recently had this same issue on my 10/22 after swapping the barrel. Turns out the new barrel had some tiny burrs on the edge of the rifling and causing the barrel to lead up like crazy then the next round would not seat home. A buddy found it with a bore scope and de-burred it for me, works great now. He also gave me a tip,... use a bore snake 2-3 times after every 100 rounds and only use "lead" bullets (no copper) till the barrel is broke in good.

i had a similar problem

i found the operating rod 'crimp' wings had dug into the softer aluminum operating handle causing it to jam on occasions.

i replaced the assembly and it corrected the issue.

Not knowing your set up, a set of small base dies may fix your problem, some reloads need them for proper feeding, some don't. My SP1 needed them.
