the pin that holds the mag release bolt lock is really loose, if I work the action with the rifle tilted left, the pin sometimes falls out. Even the pins for the receiver are fairly loose too. Unfired month old rifle.

No biggie. It's a product of mass production. Cannot really expect perfect tolerances. It's a $200 10/22 not a hand fitted Kreighoff.

Yeah, it's to be expected . I put a dab of clear nail polish on one of mine and it's cured.

Well

I just hope I don't loose one when I finally do get to shoot it outside at a range.

Doesn't the stock keep it from falling out?

The pins are known to fall out when the stock is off so whenever I take my stock off I first lay down a towel and let everything fall into the towel. I think there are five pins that you need to watch out for. Plus I have a few extra pins on hand just in case.

Oh well welcome me to the 10/22 world

Absolutely right, with everything in place in the stock no way for them to fall out. I just refitted the receiver back into the stock and see what is written, no way for that to happen. Duh. I have been working with the scope rail and bolt lock with the plan to send the trigger group out so it has not been back in the stock, barrel removed......I pick it up every once in a while to look at something and try and work the action, the pin falls out.

I used a center punch (old sharpened nail set)to put a small dimple on the pin side where it interfaces with the receiver. Go slow and easy but this added just enough grabbing to stop my pins from dropping out.
As stated be VERY careful about disassembling anything away from a proper bench. Springs fly, pins hide on the ground etc and then you are out of action for that day but also until you get the replacement parts.
