If I was going to have to pay for the barrel anyway, I think I'd try to drive it out, first.

If you don't want to send it in there are many who put custom barrels on their guns and sell the originals. Look on Armslist and gunbroker.

Mate, glad you're ok.
Bite the bullet and send it back, it's the only way.

The great part of a Ruger 10/22 is they have so many aftermarket parts.
For the price of shipping back to ruger you can find a take off barrel. The barrel is easy to replace.
I would say this will save you the embarassment but you posted here

This is not funny at all. I am not in favor of banning very many things but those bore obstructions are one of them. Accident looking for a place to happen. At least they could put a small weight with a chain on it attached to the unit to drop down the barrel. Then you couldnt close the bolt.

Frankly, I am suprised they are still being made.

I'll definitely share once I hear myself. I shipped the barrel out via USPS priority flat rate on Saturday (from California) and Ruger signed for it today at 9:30am. Hoping turn around time is quick since its a simple swap out.

Some of you are still not getting it. This is Takedown model. It won't accept the take off barrels on ebay or whatever. I'm certain that someone will soon come out with replacement barrels for the Takedown, but so far it's pretty rare.

Not to mention Ruger wont sell just a barrel and will only replace them once they have your damaged piece in hand.

The bore sighter used here is a very effective and inexpensive way to sight in a rifle or handgun. You want to ban them? What would you recommend?

Looking for a barrel ?

I just orderd a ss 22" sporter and now I want a bull barrel so I probably have a stock barrel available. and a birch stock. the bull barrel won't fit in a stock
with a smal tapered barrel , right ?

You can make the bull barrel fit by sanding down the stock, or buy a stock made for the bull barrel.
