If you don't want to send it in there are many who put custom barrels on their guns and sell the originals. Look on Armslist and gunbroker.

Mate, glad you're ok.
Bite the bullet and send it back, it's the only way.

The great part of a Ruger 10/22 is they have so many aftermarket parts.
For the price of shipping back to ruger you can find a take off barrel. The barrel is easy to replace.
I would say this will save you the embarassment but you posted here

This is not funny at all. I am not in favor of banning very many things but those bore obstructions are one of them. Accident looking for a place to happen. At least they could put a small weight with a chain on it attached to the unit to drop down the barrel. Then you couldnt close the bolt.
Frankly, I am suprised they are still being made.

Some of you are still not getting it. This is Takedown model. It won't accept the take off barrels on ebay or whatever. I'm certain that someone will soon come out with replacement barrels for the Takedown, but so far it's pretty rare.

Frankly, I am suprised they are still being made. | The bore sighter used here is a very effective and inexpensive way to sight in a rifle or handgun. You want to ban them? What would you recommend? |
