Not so scarce after all

Keep seeing posts about people not being able to find 10/22's. My usual haunt seems to be the exception to this. They show 70 of the blued/synthetic models in stock for $230.

Do tell. Where IS the "usual haunt"?

#3 ·
My LGS had 3 new and a couple of used along with a camo takedown on display in the counter.

I would be interested to find one myself. I have seen them around but usually for double the regular price (or more).

My LGD has had a continuous order for a dozen of them ever since I can remember and has a long customer waiting list. They'll come in one or two at a time leaving ten customer's disappointed. I don't know if he'll ever be able to catch up at this rate. Smithy.

Still pretty scarce here in northern Illinois. Some of the local stores have had some of the "standard" 10/22's, but they don't stay on the shelves very long. I was looking for a Takedown, and nobody had them, nor could they be ordered. I stopped at a bigger LGS last saturday that's about an hour away, just because I was passing by, and they had just gotten a shipment of Ruger stuff in. They had three Takedowns, so I latched onto one and an extra 10 round mag. They said they had gotten a BX-25 in, but someone saw them start to put it on the shelve and snatched it up($49.99) on the spot. I went back 24 hours later to pick mine up and most of the 10/22 stuff was gone. All the Takedowns were gone and all the magazines as well. They only had a couple of carbines left.

Not very common in northern Nj eithe I just bought my son in law a Marlin model60as he wants a 22 semi for shooting. i bought it because it was the only semi aout 22 and it was under 200 dollars and detachable mag aside it has been made for over 50 years and sold millions.

10/22s have been regularly available here in Soviet Southern California, thank goodness!

Interesting that they are more available in states with tight anti-American, anti-Constitution, anti-everything states...

Wondering if it is because it's harder to be a buyer and even harder to be an owner there or if there are just too few who want to...or something else...

A little off the subject but I saw on the news Magpull is leaving the Peoples Republic of Colorado due to their new set of rules...

It certainly seemed as you were alluding to the fact the states where these were available were those "anti" states. After you, you did state "Interesting that they are more available in states with tight anti-American, anti-Constitution, anti-everything states...". Seeing as it's this ME shop that seems to have the current market cornered, it seems they'd be the headliner in your group.
As for being kept secret... They're no secret hidden shop. KTP is a HIGH volume dealer and basically their own distributor as well. The volume of sales allows the allocated and harder to get models to go there. Used guns number in the thousands upon thousands. Prior to this current frenzy, they'd have 80+ used Ruger's alone. The ammo area alone is as big as some small shops I've been in. :)

The secret is out now they are going to sell out...good for them...

Yes it was a secret...if you didn't post it...the rest of the US wouldn't know...you said yourself you wanted to keep it a secret...don't know why...but that is your business not mine...

Wasn't talking about ME...and that is the 2nd time I am saying it...

Specifically the other two posts about commonly available in those states... CA...MA...very anti gun...fact...so question remains unanswered as usual...maybe someone actually knows...then again...probably not...no big deal either way...

Fred Meyer had a great sale on the 10/22's a couple of weeks ago
... Course none of the four stores nearby had any in stock.

Per one sales person, The Last Frontier state is often the last one to get stock.
There's a load somewhere, on a boat or truck, heading to Alaska. ...

Shouldn't New Hampshire have plenty ?
... That is where the 10/22 is made, right ?

Did anyone else see the news report about Remington, in New York,
being wooed by several other states that are more firearm friendly ?
The folks in Ilion, NY sounded worried that NY state
may chase Remington and it's many jobs away.

Nope and nope. They're made in the AZ facility. Regardless of their place of manufacture is moot since from there they go to the wholesalers and then to the dealers. All that distribution is all determined by sales volumes for allocated items and to an extent to all items.

Remington moving...well when they moved Marlin, the quality went way down. I don't know if that brand can afford another move. ;)

Specifically, you didn't specify but simply made a blanketing statement apparently, not specifically, referring to those areas that from this thread have these models in stock. Specifics. ;) Just funnin' with ya. :)

Per their 10K financials filed with the SEC:
.......................
"Firearms
The Company produces one model of pistol and all of its rifles, shotguns, and revolvers at the Newport, New Hampshire facility. All other pistols are produced at the Prescott, Arizona facility."
...

Is that outdated info and Prescott now makes the rifles ? Just wondering. Newport, NH is where the 10/22 is serviced. Thanks.

For those who thought that those 70-10/22's have been hidden there all along you are wrong. I am always checking Ruger inventory at KTP and those just arrived at the end of the week. My LGS just got a delivery from Ruger this week too. He only got 3 10/22's though. A Pink one, a Red one, and 2-Take Downs. Well he has one Take Down Left the other one followed me home today.

KTP has some of the best Ruger prices around and because of the volume they do they get regular deliveries from Ruger. The 6 -SR1911's and 1-Commander are what's left of the last delivery of 12-SR1911's and 6-Commanders. If you are looking for a hard to get Ruger KTP is the store you want to watch. Their search system is kinda hard to use but once you get the hang of it it isn't bad.

BlkHawk73-I stopped at Cabela's on Friday on my way by. If you want ammo keep driving. About the only thing on the shelves was dust. They did have a few Evil Black Rifles but they were leaving quicker than me. Magazine isle is bare!! Used/discounted rack had some nice rifles on it. I did hear that the fishing department is well stocked though.

I like to take the grandkids on factory tours; and for 2013 Ruger shareholders can sign up for a Prescot tour. So I was gonna sign up if Prescot included the 10/22's. I once got to see the 10/22 mold making, pouring, breaking out, all that metal molding process ... years ago.
.
Being a RiverRat my gun of choice is twin 50's ... on a fast boat ....
.
I just really enjoy shooting the 10/22 at the local range.
