Ruger 10/22 Carbine

I saw in Bass Pro Shop a "lonely" Ruger 10/22 that needed a home. After waiting 9 days on a background check, I brought it home today. I had no idea what model it was or any information on it. I am used to the wood stock like my Mini 14 but this one has like a rubberized stock. I paid $244 for the rifle which I thought was reasonable.

I checked the Ruger site and figured out that it was a 10/22 carbine and normally sells for $399. I was happy to hear about the savings. What differences does the carbine have over the other models? Is there anything different that I need to do for the carbine? Is a 10/22 carbine a good rifle? What is a good (below $75) scope to put on it?

Thanks for whatever help you can give.

The Carbine is identified by the barrel band on it.

The Carbine has an 18.5" barrel; other models range from 16.5" to 20".

The Carbine functions the same as the other versions of the 10/22.

The Carbine is a very popular model of the 10/22 - maybe the most common version.

I have a Ruger 10/22 Carbine that I mounted a Simmons 3-9 x 32 scope on. It looks good on the gun and functions very well. I believe I paid around $40.00 for it on Amazon. I added a UTG rail and UTG quick-release scope rings because they are better/sturdier than what is provided by Ruger (rail) and Simmons (scope rings). All-in, I spent $75.00 including shipping to my door, all from Amazon.

Good luck with your new rifle - hope you enjoy it!

It is definitely a 10/22 carbine.

while i think $399 sounds a bit high, i think the $244 you got it for sounds about right, especially these days. i have the carbine and love it. i'm also having scope questions and issues, so i'll be watching this thread with interest. i had been thinking vortex diamondback for around $180ish, but it sounds like maybe i don't need to go anywhere near that price range to get the magnification i want (all i want is consistent accuracy at 100yds). 'course a lot of that is up to me, not the scope, so....
