10/22 replacement sights

What replacement sights are available for the 10/22?
I have a completely stock carbine and after my first rimfire match today, I see the need for a better sight system. A guy at the match had I believe Hi Viz fiber optic sights that looked pretty sweet. I think I would like to keep "irons" on this carbine.....if fiber optic sights are considered irons.
What else is available other than peep sights?

Check out the offerings from TechSights. They have adjustable rear peep sights (similar to what you would find on a Mini 14. There are lots of write-ups on the forums here about their products and a lot of the Mini 14/30 guys over at Perfect Union are fans of them.

Also check out Williams sights for anything fiber optic. They have some really great stuff.

Not sure why you wouldn't want peep sights...or what kind of match you are in...

However...if you have the need for repeated...precision elevation adjustments for something like SB Silhouette...IMO...you want the Williams FP Low with Target Turrets and 1" o.d. with .05" aperture...

With that I would use a Williams fiber optic front post with the fiber optic bead removed...you will see the whole target that way...nothing is obscured...

If you want to have the option of a scope at the same time...

NoDak Spud NDS-22 receivers

Also the Williams Ace in the Hole...both have pros and cons...

Williams makes a rear sight the goes where the leaf is on the factory barrel...

The Ruger compact 10/22 comes from Ruger with that fire sight set...it's on Williams page I linked you to...

True sights has some interesting options as well...

IMO...peep sights are they way to go for iron sights regardless of what type front post you use...

I was thinking about getting the HiViz sights as they are fiber optic for fast aquisition and they go in the factory locations. This would leave the top of my receiver free if I decide later on I want a red dot or scope.

Take a look at this for a second. Williams Ace The Hole Sight Set Picatinny Base Ruger 10/22 Steel Blue

I have a WGRS rear for the 10/22, and it works well. Adjustments are solid, but they are not as precision as a "click type" peep by a long shot. FO sights, I'm a fan, but they are not as precise for target work, for me, as they tend to obscure the target in bright light conditions.

But hey, the fun of a 10/22 is all of the gadgets you can play with, and sights are really not all that expensive if you decide they are not exactly what you wanted. One man's meat, so to say.

I got the 10/22 compact and it came stock with fiber optic sights. I really like them and think its a pretty good way to go.

Here are the ones Ruger uses. Well they are slightly different but the same brand.

I really like the Williams sights, but it looks like the rear sight mounts to the top of the receiver. I wanted to keep that free just in case I want to put a rail and red dot or reflex sight on later on down the road.
The HiViz sights look like they go in the factory locations. Am I correct?

The Williams sights mount in the same place the stock sights do not the top of the receiver.

The two screws are just for sight adjustment.

Do's & DONT's & Correct Sights & setup

DONT GET the Short Radius fiber optic sights, that mount in the stock rear sight location, or you will just be replacing them later when you get better and realize they are No better than stock same sight radius as stock means Less accurate longer distances.

DONT remove the Front Fiber Optic out of the front sight, this is done because the sights are not Correctly set up

Get the Williams Receiver mounted Rear Peep Sight with the Williams Fire sight front sight. You will be glad you did, you can use this sight setup with a Red dot together, (see below)

Williams WGRS-RU22 Guide Receiver Peep Sight Set with Fire Sight Ruger 10/22 Aluminum Black

This will provide you 8" Longer sight radius the stock sights, and are much easier to see

Williams WGRS-RU22 Guide Receiver Peep Sight Set Fire Sight Ruger

They are very Bright.

A lot of people do not set these sights up right, they set them up like the stock Leaf sight covering part of your target this is Not Correct, and they cannot see the whole target, this is because they set them at the 1/3 o'clock position this blocks half of the target, giving them a MUCH reduced range

This is the Correct Setup set them up This way, to see the whole target, & will provide a Much longer range.

sight them in so that they are Target ON at 6-O'clock, there will be No obstructions, and you will see the whole target.

The Peep rear sight allows you to focus on the front sight (the rear sight becomes almost invisible) and the target.

These are awesome sights when set up correctly, also the aperture can be removed and you can use them as Ghost ring sights, really cool.

Just blue loctite all hardware, and for added security a drop of super glue at the bottom of the fire optic to make sure it stays put. Vibration can cause parts to move and fall out and be come lost

A red dot can still be put on with a receiver mounted rear williams sight, take a full length picatini rail and cut it to fit in the front two holes then you have both sights and they will look through each other (co-witness sighting) if you use the bushnell TRS25 RED DOT

ONLY get the Fiber optic rear sight if you plan on throwing a scope on it and NEVER use the fiber optic sight, then in that case forget the sights and go straight to the scope.

Here are some pics of the ones that came on my 10/22.

One other thing about these sights is you can not see them if you have the rial mounted to the top of the receiver.

Biggest problem with these sights is most People DO NOT SET THEM UP CORRECTLY

the Williams WGRS-RU22 Guide Receiver Peep Sight Set with Fire Sight Ruger 10/22 Aluminum Black

Dont get the short sight radius version, as they are Not as accurate

Get these and set them up correctly and you will be very surprised how Great they are.

Set them up Target on 6 o'clock, this will let you see the whole target.

Most people set up this target at the 1 or 3 o'clock position and cover half their target, But this is Not correct

I guess because this is the way the standard stock rear leaf sight is set up. But this is not correct.

Williams Peep

Williams FIRE

I think I like the Fire sights the best. This will give me the Fiber optic I want and keep the top of my receiver completely free in case I decide on scope or red dot later on.

Here is mine with both a peep sight and a rail for a Red dot.

I have the same setup as the video showing Brandon shooting his.

I have a short TS tactical rail with 7 slots + the rear peep is on there.

My red Dot is a Bushnell TRS-25 I put a thumb screw for, easy, No Tool required Removal.

Nobody made exactly what I wanted for the 10/22...came real close to getting the Nodak which is the one-piece peep/rail version of what westgl has...great for using a red dot...not that great for a scope since you have to raise the scope high enough to clear the peep sight...

In the end I decided to get the WGRS-54 and make my own front post...the front post is a crude prototype...plan to make a much better billet one in similar size/shape later...

Obviously I cannot mount a scope and that peep at the same time but they swap out easy enough...and it gets set up in advance for what ever I want to do with it anyway...

I love peep sights...
