I am with you as far as it being necessary but my mind state is that the thing is so cheap why not buy one? I mean it can't hurt right? I would also think that if nothing else it's got to be a little better then a metal on metal bashing every time you pull the trigger.

So basically this is my view. Do I think it helps? Yes. Do I think it helps to a point that MOST people would even really notice? Probably not. But hey for 5 bucks why be a cheapskate?

I have a new model 1151 with the synthetic stock. Is the stock hollow? Does anyone know how to remove the butt plate? Does anyone know of a butt stock kit that can be installed for storage of repair parts and a cleaning kit in the stock? I like the looks of the stock and do not really want a Tapco or aftermarket stock but would like to "modify" the orginal. Thanks for the help.

I swapped out the black synthetic stock with a Hogue fiberglass and rubber stock on my 10/22RPF and added a black 1" nylon sling. In addition to the rotary mag that came with the rifle I also purchased 4 Ruger BX-25 10/22 magazines.

Great gun right out of the box. The personal preferences/changes have just enhanced my experiences with the rifle. Hogue rubber stocks are stylish and provide great grip : I often hike with the rifle so the sling is handy. And the multiple mags are very convenient and nice to have for those days out shooting.
