| Just purchased a 10/22 - first 300 rounds
My first post.
I purchased a 10/22 compact with the pink laminate stock (only compact I could find locally). Im looking for a Hogue Stock. I took it to the range the first day and managed to get decent groupings at 25 yards.
I ran 300 rounds of Winchester Hyper Speed 555. The first 25 round mag had many failure to feeds. The nose of the round was bent out of shape. Is this just because of the ammunition that I used or could there be another issue? I used the OEM 10 round mag as well and had issues. Roughly 8 FTF in 300 rounds, is that heard off? Maybe the break in, I'm not sure.
After the day I came home and noticed that the barrel/receiver were loose and tightened the connection screw. I did not break down the pink plinker and clean the factory grease off before hitting the range.
Its a beautiful little plinker but I've never had those issues on previous 10/22s Ive owned.
Thank you!

I will take it you have the BX-25. Simple BX-25 Feed Issue Fix
I just did it on both mine with a 22 short case and the short fit perfectly. I have not got to use them since so I am not sure if it helped at all.
P.S I also had a hard time finding the compact locally.

I just hope you are a female because i wouldnt be caught dead firing a pink gun in public haha I have never used the winchester hyper speed 555 but i have used the winchester super x and have nothing but problems. The thing is that i find i have all the problems with is the flat nose hollow point type bullits which is what the winchesters are so i think if you switch to a round nose bullit you wont have any problems because they dont get caught as much because they are rounded. Its not that easy to even get round nose bullits now because most are hollow points now but i use cci blazers and remington thunderbolts and i have no problems and you can get both of them at canadiantire but they cost a bit more than the winchesters.I recommend the cci blazer as your best choice for the 10/22 !!!

Can you get CCI Mini-mags where you live? Most folks don't have problems with new 10-22's, but I see a lot of advice out there recommending shooting 100 rounds of mini-mags to break in a new .22. They are clean, well-manufactured, clean burning and a little hotter than the cheap stuff.

I hate to say it I was using the "pink" stock. I made sure that I went when no one was around . I was using a BC 25 round. I used it in my last .22 and had no issues! Ill stay away from the Winchester. I havent tried the mini mags yet. Ill give them a shot. I appreciate the knowledge.
What are your thoughts on the Hogue OD's or a tacticool ATI or Tapco? I am not one for optics as of yet.

After reading your post I have a few ideas.
A good cleaning and lubing will help alot. Get out any small metal shavings or powder residue. Now the next one is just a guess, but could the loose stock have been putting pressure on the magazine? Possibly just slightly putting it out of allignment . Helping with the fails to feed.

A newer 10-22 I bought.....then quickly sold, hicupped on just about any .22 bullet I fed it. It also had a number of quality issues stated elsewhere in this forum....not arguing, just sayin' |

I say keep the pink stock and be safe with your masculinity. My wife has a pink M&P 15-22 and when I take it to the range with my other firearms and out shoot the guys I tease them that they got out shot by a guy with a pink gun. HA HA HA. Will you tell anyone you got out shot by a guy with a pink gun?
