its one of the good older ones with no plastic parts but i was tired of the boring wood stock so i put on a ATI strikeforce 6 position folding stock
|
So you're quite pleased it's a good one becasue of no plastic yet you add a ton of platic to it (stock, mags, grip, etc...) Confused. LoL J/K
No into the whole black-gun style but so long as YOU are pleased with it. What really counts is how it shoots though.

What really counts is how it shoots though. | By plastic i mean the important parts ( The actual gun parts ) "Trigger assembly mainly" ...not the stock. The grip i added is actually aluminum and the stock and magazine are made from Extreme Temperature Glass Reinforced Polymer which is a plastic but reinforced with glass fibers for strength and the peep sight and laser are aluminum. This stock is alot better for shooting than the wood one was for me because i have long arms and it extends farther than the original.I am into the black gun style obviously,I also like wood stocks just not the ones that come on the 10/22 from factory.

Just added a light that can be easily turned on and off with my thumb while my hand is on the front grip. |

You do realize the current polymer trigger assemblies are actually manufactured with tighter tolerances than the alloy counterparts that preceded them? They're also a stronger material than the alloy ones and and far less susceptible to breakage than the alloy ones. It's also made of glass-filled polymer, the same as that stock that is of acceptable "plastic".
Knowing is 1/2 the battle. |

Knowing is 1/2 the battle. | Well a polymer stock is acceptable to me and so would the trigger assembly be if i had no choice but there is a reason why people replace the polymer trigger assemblies all the time and why people pay more for the older 10/22 guns but i dont want to argue about it i think they are all good i just prefer the core of my gun to be metal. Some people prefer the new trigger assembly and some like the old i suppose. But you have to admit the aluminum trigger assembly looks better. As far as my polymer stock and magazines i didnt have a choice because i didnt like the wood stock and i like the tactical look but trust me if i could have got a all aluminum stock i would have bought one because i much prefer aluminum over any type of plastic.I believe the SR-22 model ruger makes has a all aluminum chassis which is nice. The truth is ruger just switched to the new trigger to save money but thats what most companies do nowdays so its like comparing a chevy cobalt to a 57 chevy you can say it runs and works better if you want but it sure looks cheap lol

No, no, to each their own with the aluminum vs polymer debate so no argument. I have both and well, depending on the build, I will choose the alloy simply because of the smoother, more "classic" appearance. I'm sure most wanting to switch are simply wanting that because they're not aware of the characteristics and properties of the polymer ones. That and in general, people are unwilling to accept change and judge quickly without knowing the full details.

Looks nice to me? but then I look at the positive and don't try to sling the negative, which I don't see, You did a great job and I bet it's gonna be a fun shooter at the range! tolerance this, tolerance that, BS! Unless you're going "IDPA" with it or something, you'll hit what you aim at, It's a Ruger!
Keep on shootin',
Tony
