Tacticool

OK so when I got my 10/22 compact I was intending to put a archangel kit on it but after shooting it I really like the stock fiber optic sights which I would have to lose for the kit to fit and that has me second guessing getting it. I already have some of the PTS MBUS sights to put on it when I convert it and would eventually get a cheap red dot and or scope.

Really what I am interested in knowing is from the guys who have this kit how will it effect the accuracy (if at all) of the gun? Also how do you like the kit over all?

This gun will be used for fun shooting and hunting. So is tacticool at all practical?

I would look at the Houge overmolded stocks. Best Bang for your buck

From what I have seen the Hogue stocks look pretty much like a factory stock and are not much cheaper then what I am looking at.

The Hogue stocks may have a similar profile to the factory stock, but are in no way shape or form built the same. They use the best quality synthetic available, insert bedding blocks, then overmold the stock with an awesome rubber coating. They might not look all "tacticool", but they are superior stocks to just about any in performance.

I sometimes just laugh at the vanity that sometimes comes into the shooting sports. BUT sometimes it is function over form. For example the wife is iddy biddy and needs far less pull than I do so I'm considering getting an ATI or Tapco stock for the Mini so she can reduce the length. My Mini is the Tactical w the conventional plastic stock. Looks fine for me but the boss needs some help.LOL

Not 100% sure what you are asking but I considered the archangel thumb hole target stock until I saw one in person and then I knew it would not work for me with low profile iron sights due to cheek weld...

I knew I could shape the plastic to fit me no problem...however, in addition to having to modify it...the heel drop was nowhere near what I needed...

What is in my signature is what I have...as far as looks goes...I prefer that plastic fajen to any of the stocks like the dragonuv or whatever...there are other plastic thumbhole target/hunting stocks of equal quality available but that one has a removable butt extension and cheek weld...and the most heel drop of any on the market...

Not to offend anyone else but I have a low opinion of some of the "tactical" products but some are better than others...

I considered getting one of the tactical stocks available with a "drop" tube for the but extension but none of them passed muster with me personally in the end I just wouldn't have the stuff...things like loose fit receiver, wobbly butt extension...covered with accessory rails (that is fine if like to bolt stuff to your gun but I don't and prefer smooth)...and worst of all the grips were like kid's toys imo...I cannot see how any adult would want grips on a rifle that are like a sub-compact single stack pistol...

I have a SKS with ATI Dragunov stock on it...it is a battle-gun...no accessories...put the stock on because it fit me where the norinco original was purely useless...if money was no object Tapco sells a nice wooden thumb hole stock I would gladly use if it was donated to me...

Personally, my opinion with regard to how guns look is there is nothing better looking in a firearm for any long gun than a checkered walnut hunter-style stock with blued steel, low profile iron sights...nothing else...so any plastic or thumb hole stock I get is purely a matter of sacrificing that to fit my needs including a very low budget...

Basically I am asking about this stock.

Also considered the Nomad kit and wish the Krinker Plinker kit could still be found at a reasonable price.

If you are planning on turning the 10/22 into the SR22, why not just get the SR22 to begin with?

Probably should have but this will be about $200 less.

Also probably a lot lighter.

Well, I do not know about lighter, I have no way of confirming what your suggested build will be when done.

As to price however, you can pick up a SR-22 rifle new in the box for around $480.

500 for the SR22 VS just over 200 for the 10/22 and 100 for the kit. Plus the kit comes with the rails I would have to buy extra for the SR22.

The reason the kit will not be as heavy is it's made out of polymer rather then aluminum which may actually be a bad thing but the one plus is it should be a little lighter.

I probably should have just got the SR22 but I wanted to build a gun and try to save a little cash. Also this way if I ever want to go back to stock form I can.

anyway it goes I already have the gun now so it's a little late for second guessing
