What are you using them for? I'm curious as to how many people are using them as survival/hiking/backpacking guns and how many use them just like any other gun in their collection.
I'm very strongly considering getting one and keeping it stowed away in the car for all around stuff purposes, as well as a plinker and camping gun.

I bought one up a couple of days ago. I didn't previously have a 10/22, but had been looking to pick one up. Mainly I just wanted another plinker, but decided to go with the Takedown model for the discreet portability - except for that big, red Ruger logo on the bag! Had it to the range yesterday, and it shoots fine. I'm going to replace the hammer to reduce the trigger pull weight. Put a small scope on it and it fills the .22LR bill just fine for me. I had also been looking at the Henry AR-7, but I think this was a much better choice for me.

I bought it because I wanted another 10/22. My other two are tied up in my gattling gun. It's fun to shoot but eats the bullets. I wanted another gun to plink with. It's not that much more and comes with a nice carrying case. Plus it opens up the door for more options. I can swap out barrels. I carry my stock barrel and a bull barrel. I am considering a .17mach2 conversion.

I purchased mine with the intent of having a easily packed camp rifle. I think I'll use it for squirril also. It's a nice fairly accurate rifle.

I over-researched the heck out of this one before I decided to buy. Glad I did. For the money it's the best deal out there....for what you get. It's a survival / pack gun and the Stainless / Aluminum / Composite combo should last a lifetime. When you consider the cost of the carry case, the takedown rifle is only $30 more the Walmart composite w/ black barrel. Also it's super easy to clean.

I plan on using my takedown as a saddle gun. I'll keep it in the pack, tied across the back of my saddle. I should see anything I want to shoot with it from a distance, and I'll always be carrying either my Single Six convertible .22 Mag or my GP100 for emergencies.

I'm thinking about getting one, too. I don't and never have had a 10/22, so it's past time I get one!
For me it would be a plinking gun and I would probably keep it in the back of the car. I have an SUV and don't cover the back, although the back windows are factory dark tinted. I figure if someone did see it in the car, they wouldn't know what it was.

Been thinking about picking up one of these for plinking and such. Don't own any rifles but love my .22 marks. Does anybody know if the Ruger part # 90005 is the correct mag for these? If not, what is the part#? Was looking into extras and costs before I buy one. Thanks, Ron

I bought and use mine just like any other 10/22. Good Earthquake gun though, if I have to make a SHTF pack. Otherwise, mine is a range gun.
Slightly quicker and easier to clean than other 10/22s IMO.

and all magazines made to fit the 10/22 will work with the takedown.

Since i did that work it has run my bx-25's and my steel lipped Butlercreeks and my only hotlipps buttler creek with out any problems.
