| Best 25 round magazine
I have been thinking of getting some additional magazines for my 10/22 takedown. I had a couple of questions. Is the Ruger BX25 the best or another company 25 round magazine or should I just stick with the regular 10 round? I don't really have to have 25 round magazines, it seem that they may have more problems than the 10 round.
Thanks

The BX25 is the best if you need a 25 rounders. But if 10 will do I recommend the factory 10 round mags. Very seldom do you hear of a problem with the 10 round magazines which was the origional design of the rifle. It was never designed for 25 round magazines and I think Ruger would have designed it differant if they knew someone would want more than the 10 round rotary mag.

BX25 for sure. Over the years I have owned multiples of just about every damned high-cap 10/22 mag ever made, and none of them have come close in reliability to the BX over time. We have 6 of them now, all well broken in, and never a problem with them.
However, as stated above, for ultimate reliability the factory 10rd rotary is the way to go. I have never seen or heard of a failure of the factory mag.

bx-25, in my limited experience. never an issue. took it out today--no issues. having said THAT i've kind of decided i like the 10rd mags setup on the little trimag adapter better. bx-25 works flawlessly, but being a banana mag, is kind of gawky looking in my opinion (but then i'll probably never get into the "tactical look"). i like the look and slimmer profile of the trimags. but, not one problem with the bx-25 so if you DO want a 25rd mag, i'd agree with the others here and say "go for it!"

I disagree with everyone above...IMO the Tactical Innovations beats the BX-25 by a long ways...
That is not to say I think the BX is bad...just definitely not as good...
I like the factory 10s the best...
IMO the best thing is to have three or more of them...
Also...the extended mag release was a nice improvement on mine for the 10 rounders...however, it was in the way a lot...
Since I broke down and got the lever mag release I really like the factory mags a whole lot more...
Therefore since you said you don't really need the 25 round...I would spend the money on the lever mag release to make the 10 rounders that much nicer...having the 25 round mag hanging down is a pita for me with off hand shooting since I support the gun with my palm under the mag-well with wrist backed up against the trigger guard...the paddle type release poked me and interfered with bolt lock and with the extended mag and the paddle release combined it was just a pita...
My only complaint on the BX is that it is a very sloppy fit...you have to avoid contact with it when shooting...I did have a malfunction that others have had also with the BX but that is not a big deal to me and not why I don't rate higher...
The TI is solid as a rock...

$35...
Being a tight-wad I had a hard time pulling the trigger on that one...lol... TI25™ ADVANCED COMPOSITE ADJUSTABLE STEEL LIP MAGAZINE FOR
They have an all metal one for a lot more...I don't see the point myself...
The TI is a pita to adjust initially but worth the effort IMO...
I would probably not value it as much if I had not bought a BX at the same time...got one of each to see what if any difference...
If I thought they were equal I would have bought at least three more BX from midway on sale for $21 but would rather have two factory 10s than one bx 25...
Would rather have one TI than two BX...
Will accept all and promise to use all the BX-25s people will donate to me...just won't buy anymore...not sorry I bought the one I have...they are way better than nothing...and I never bought any of the others in the past due to all the problems people said they had...so I can't compare...just assume that all the comparisons to other brands are valid...
Also... TI has a cheaper one...it does NOT have steel lips...I wouldn't get it myself...I would take the BX first over plastic lips any day...

The el cheapo model works just as good as the more expensive ones. What I believe you get for more $$$ is longevity. I can see no difference in performance in either, if I were to buy more (I have about 7 or 8 total) I probably would buy the cheaper ones and get 1 of the high end models out of curiosity.

Buy a bunch of rotary mags along with some good tri-connectors. That way you get multi rounda but you still get to use the tried and true rotary mag.

I have 2 factory ten rounders and my brother has at least one Promag that loads at least 30 rounds. It malfunctions every one in ten rounds. Mostly FTF. Go with a BX25. From what I have heard, they are a wonderful product. If you get a lemon, send it to Ruger, you can't go wrong.
