Looking for 10/22 magnum sporter stock

With all the conversions of the 10/22 magnum to bull barrel with target stocks where are all the old stock? I am looking for a walnut stock sporter stock for my 10/22 magnum. Not is it only a really nice looking stock but allows me to modify any barrel selection I may want to put together. Not looking for junk mind you but I know I won't find one that is new either

Welcome to RF!

You might also try the auctions like Gun Broker, eBay etc.. I know I've seen 10/22 stocks on them before.

They are different. One reason is there just isn't a lot of the 10/22M models getting makeovers.

You don't see a lot of mags either stock or getting makeovers.

You would think that being on a Ruger forum, with thousands of people that I would be able to find a stock sporter 10/22 magnum stock. It would seem that it would be a lot easier to find. I have been looking for over a year to find just one, my Internet searches have been fruitless and after market isjust doesn't have the selection that I want. I have a 10/22 with the sporter stock and like it so well I want to do the adme for the magnum

Man I could not agree with you more about the factory sporter stock...

I like that thing so much better than all the much better/fancier/whatever stocks you could find anywhere...period...

Back in the day it fit me perfect...but not anymore...can't shoot off hand with it...

It is the standard 10/22 sporter stock not magnum...never had a magnum and don't know how they differ with regard to the stock...

Hope you find what you are looking for and if the the factory one works for you or anyone else tell me...

Did Ruger even make a Sporter stock for the Magnum? If not, can a .22LR Sporter stock be modified to work?

If the answer to both questions is no then you might be out of luck.

The answer is yes to the sporter stock being made for the 10/22 magnum and the sporter stock for the 10/22 is to small. The receiver on the mag is made of steel not aluminum and is longer and a bit wider. If I had a throw away 10/22 stock I might try to modify it then buy a 10/22 sporter stock and modify it but looking at my 10/22 sporter stock it looks impractical to do it that way. Having one built is the way I might have to go but cant find anyone that builds one that I like for the price
