At the range this past Saturday some fellow brought a bunch of green apples from his trees. We tried using different ammo (round nose, hollow points) to see if it made any difference. Really could not tell as most of them just turned into applesauce.

I suggest you draw a bullseye. If you want to get really good shoot first and then put the bullseye where you shot.

Paper targets, golf balls, tennis balls... the ideas could go on quite awhile.

Not surprised so many people said spinners. They are my favorite, I also really like my "walking" target. When it's hit it changes position, lots of fun and because it moves feels like more variety.

A lot of good suggestions. One thing I don't shoot is glass. I pick up all my garbage after I shoot both at the club and on private property. I like to shoot food; square saltine crackers, round toll house crackers, cookies, pretzels, fruits. I don't pick up the remains of that the critters will do it for me. For moving targets I like paper or Styrofoam cups, empty cartridge boxes, try to keep them moving, alternate shots and keep them moving with a companion. For something a little different I use brightly colored round stickers, an inch or two inches in diameter, at ranges you cannot clearly see the same sized target in a drab color. It is a little strange but your eyes pick out the bright colors easily.

Yesssss. I have also gone to the trouble of tying fishing line to 1inch pieces of chalk, clip a paper clip at the other end and hang them from a string tied across two 1x 2s stuck in the ground.

Another cheap target alternative are paper plates with diffent size stickers in the middle for aiming points.

They should combine golf courses and rifle ranges.
