I shot for years using an Anchutz 1813 super-match in .22 cal that weighed in at 17lbs. I'm conditioned to appreciate the extra heft and like some substance to my rifles. For me, the extra weight equals more stability. If I wanted light, I'll resort to my pistols. Further, the plastic stock with the TD offered very little in the way of a solid cheek weld not to mention feeling the hollowness of it. As a plus, I now have a TD model no one else has! | That 17# gun sounds cool, but for me it would be one that only goes to a range, not on my back pack hiking all day shoots. But i like light weight and very Inexpensive, Or should i say High Value.
Amazing how two different people can see things from exact opposites.
My 10/22TD is a Bug out gun, I guess there lies the difference, as far as cheek weld I thought the TD provided a very nice comfortable and located perfectly for my Tech sights or Williams Fire sights
I do like a wood stock the 10/22 can be changed very quickly to what ever you want it to be that day, you could have 10 different stocks set up differently, and one high quality 10/22 barrel/receiver assembly.
My 10/22 Carbine has all Kidd internals, and has a home in a few different stocks.
I have no problem taking my 8#+ gun to the range, but for but lugging it for a few hours back packing there is nothing like a light rifle.
I really like a sub 5# weight of a 10/22TD, especially since there is No recoil.
I have acreage that backs up to Many acres of BLM land, carrying my 5# rifle & 1k of ammo over hilly/mountains on hikes to a area i like to shoot, is a work out with a light gun, I have taken my heavier rifles on to the same place and not had as much fun with my heavier guns and 1K of ammo,
I usually take at least one pistol with me when i go, + water.
I love my AK's & AR but i shoot more 22LR than anything else, one because they are cheap and two because my Wife and daughter like to shoot them.

| Takedown the Takedown?
What are the steps to take out the bolt on the TD? I want to modify the bolt lock and can't figure it out. The manual only describes for the regular 10/22, and nothing on YouTube. Thanks in advance.

except
remove/TD the barrel
STD 10/22 TD
1. Remove take down receiver bolt
2. Remove receiver/barrel from stock
3. remove trigger pins & trigger assembly
Bolt Hold Open is in the trigger assy
Then watch a Bolt Hold open modification video of your choice there are many of them

You now have two options for the Takedown. There is the regular black and stainless model and the USA Shooting Team model that is blue and stainless with a red case.
You can see it here: Team USA edition takedown

I bought the USA shooting team model myself and couldn't be happier with it!! They give a $20.00 donation to the team as well!

I picked up a Team USA 10/22 TD yesterday. I will be honest with you, initially, I would have preferred getting a black model. However, the blue stock grows on you. Additionally, the black model, here in the Seattle area, is currently scarcer than the blue model…Go figure! I hadn't heard about a multicam model until the previous posting!!! I will say that I am looking forward to the production of aftermarket stocks, (i.e., Hogue overmolded) for the TD model. There is one guy over at the RimFireCentral.com forum that already has customized a Hogue overmolded stock to fit his TD. He did a real nice job!!!
I can't wait to get it to the range….

I can't wait to get it to the range…. | Congrats! I keep looking at them and almost pulled the trigger (pun/no pun, you decide) and bought one a few days ago. But I could only find the black ones from one source and I prefer black as well. I think I'm going to wait until after Christmas and see if the price drops. The best price I've seen is $339.

It was $351 at my LGS.

I bought the "stock" 10/22 Carbine in large part because no TD models were available when I was looking ... Yeah. It's so damn much fun I'll be acquiring a TD as well to keep in my truck. Damn you, Ruger! *shakes fist unconvincingly* |

I didn't even realize Big Five carried firearms. I'll have to check them out. However, I just bought about $230 worth of .308 for my bigger boys. I've got three and they like to eat. |

Watch out for Big 5, they are a bit on the high side on pricing but, if you are into Mil Surplus, they do carry some.

Scott | Big 5 is a fair place to buy milsurps when they are on sale. But I wouldn't buy anything else there.

Well, I stopped looking at 10/22 TD's today. I bought one at Cabela's for $349. I called this morning and they said they had 2. I put my name on the list but they told me those might be sold. They'd call me when they were in. They said it wouldn't do any good to call again but I could go to the store and ask. So, I go there and wait at least a ½ hr and then waited another ½ hr while they checked if they were in stock. They told me they were out but I'd get the next one. So, I drive home, turn on the TV and Cabela's calls. Apparently they had it all along and blamed it on new people.
Whatever … I've now got a new black one (what I wanted) in the box. I picked up 375 of CCI Mini Mags and 525 of Remington Sabres. The Remington was marked $21 and the CCI $41. But they rang it up for $22. I told the guy how it was marked but decided to shutup before they corrected their error.
I haven't even opened the box yet, but I'm pretty happy. Looking forward to taking it and one of my .308's to the range this weekend. I should take my Remington 700. It looks just like the TD's big brother!

Congrats on the purchase!
Gotta ask the inevitable question.... which scope have you picked out for your new 10/22 TD?
mission critical
