| List of Ruger 10/22 Parts to Stock Up
I like the idea of having gun parts on hand if I needed to replace them in a pinch.
For the Ruger 10/22 (take down), what is a good list of parts to buy? (from Numrich Gun Parts ... Numrich Gun Parts Corporation)
1. Firing Pin
2. Any spring

ejector and extractor
the ejector just takes one time of rushing to put it together and you can bend it causing FTF issues.
might as well get a new cocking handle, guide rod and recoil spring assemble too, oem are cheap

I've owned - and shot - the same Ruger 10-22 for about 35 years. In all that time, the only parts I've replaced "for cause" were the extractor and spring (the spring was probably OK, but I replaced it anyway). The extractor was still working, but it looked worn, so I replaced it.
It's still got the original firing pin and spring, but I'd get a set of those because [a] they can fail and [b] when they fail, the firearm is inoperative. The recoil spring/guide rod/bolt handle assembly is another replacement to have on hand, although I've never seen one break.
In both of my 10-22's, I've replaced the receiver cross pin with a plastic buffer rod, which softens the impact when the bolt reaches the end of its travel. Since these plastic rods have a finite life, I keep a couple of replacements in my range bag.
The most critical replacement item is the magazine. I've never had one of the 10-round Ruger magazines break - I have one that is 35 years old and has been through I don't know how many thousand rounds. However, I HAVE had 10-22 magazines get so fouled that they stop working until they are cleaned. Also, I've had shooting buddies drop and lose a magazine - and the 10-22 doesn't work very well as a single-shot rifle.

I have a 10/22 Sporter, and my spare parts list includes:
1 Firing pin and spring
2 Extractor, extractor spring and extractor plunger
3 Recoil spring assembly (includes the cocking handle)
4 One of every spring, screw, plunger, and pin. Springs occaisionally fail, screws get buggered, plungers and pins either go airborne or lost in other ways.
5 Magazine latch plunger - this is the large plastic "bump" that holds the mags in place. Now that it's plastic, I understand it can eventually wear enough to give trouble.
Having a Sporter, I also got a spare recoil pad. It's a perfect fit out of the package, where from anywhere else a pad need tedious fitting.

I have had the same 10/22 since 1992 and never had to replace a single part. That rifle must have 10's of thousands of .22's through it, and it does duty now as my "groundhog gun" and gets stored in my garage. I must confess I don't do much to maintain it and it has never even hiccuped.
Not to say you shouldn't keep spare parts on hand, but like was said above, get some basics and you should be good.
This is why I love Rugers, I have some spare parts for my GP100's, like transfer bars, cylinder latches etc. but I doubt I'll ever need them.

There's 17 or more 10/22's here and the only parts I've replaced were done because I was upgrading during a build. I certainly wouldn't worry about it but if it gives a warm fuzzy feelings... My suggestion would be to change out the stock parts with some upgraded parts where possible and retain the factory ones should they ever be needed. Maybe the extractor it spring but other than that, not much else to worry about. Pretty fool proof.
