| Should I Buy A 10/22?
I mean, I don't hunt. I don't have a varmint problem. My two kids have already been introduced to shooting, and seem to have responded with a collective yawn. I'm more of a handgunner than a rifleman. But, darn it, my local Wal Mart sells the stainless steel, synthetic-stocked 10/22 for only $247.00, and I AM tempted! Help me out here, guys...how do I talk myself into this one?

A shooter should have a 10-22 just like he should have targets. It is a great fun gun and that is okay not every gun has to be for a serious purpose.

Think of it this way. You're an adult. Adults need to have a little fun now and then. Its for fun! Some days you come home from work and just think... I could be shooting nice little groups and get rid of some frustration. Just look for something fun to do once in awhile and 10/22 targets can be lots of fun!

Can't imagine any Ruger owner not having at least one 10/22 and if you're not already a Ruger owner, a 10/22 is a great place to start. I don't think you can buy a gun that is more fun for the money or, heck, just more fun, period, than a 10/22.

YES!
Everyone should have a 10/22, they are just plain fun.
Your kids wont be yawning when you chuck a few golf balls as far as you can and see who can shoot it first (after they landed of course) or lining up spent shot gun/ rifle shells and knocking them down one by one. I must add you can do all this for under $10 worth of ammo.
I am trying to justify a second .22 rifle so I can have one scoped and one with iron sites. but I just bought two revolvers so I will have to probably wait until next year or I will get a rifle up the nose

North country gal: Oh, believe me, I own plenty of Rugers! Rivers2k: Don't misunderstand me, I am very aware of the cost effectiveness of the good old .22LR...I have a Single Six and a 22/45. I just don't have a .22 rifle [yet! ]. Your golf ball idea sounds pretty intriguing, I'll have to give that a try!

Yes.
You see my signature, an odd collection but suits my needs. Only one rifle, because everyone who shoots should have a rifle, and mine's a 10/22.

| 10-22
I bought the ruger 10-22 carbine 2 weeks ago, came with a simmons 4x32 scope. The dealer mounted the scope and bore sighted it for 50 yards. Tues. I hit the range shooting paper targets, bowling pins and golf balls. Wen't through 300 rounds of federal builk and 100 rounds of CCi mini mags that I had left. This gun is a real tack driver. It was more fun to shoot then the Henry rifle I had.

so far, i've only had mine at our county range, so that's a pretty restrictive environment, but i've still had tons of fun with it. looking forward to getting out of state, where i'll be able to shoot with some friends of mine in a, well, let's just call it an "unrestricted environment." having said that, even the restricted environment at the county range is still worth putting up with for the fun the 10/22 provides. once i get my p95 in hand i'm definitely thinking more 22s, partly because i simply want them, and partly because 22 seems to be addictive enough that i want to be able to take more weapons with me, so i can be shooting another 22 while the first one cools down.
