| QC Issue with 10/22 TD
Can't believe it -- got the gun home and immediately noticed the cap on the pistol grip of the buttstock was missing. Looks like it's glued on the buttstock -- really poor QC. I have already emailed and voicemailed Ruger regarding the issue -- no response yet. NOT GOOD!

You may have been caught in the factory shutdown during the week of July 4th. In any case, a phone call and speaking to a person is best. They should replace the stock and have you send the old one back prepaid.
The missing cap wasn't in the box in the packing?
Another thought - make a removable cap for the stock use the space inside the stock for limited storage. I had asked Ruger if I could get a spare butt plate for the TD and they said the butt plate was glued in place and was not available. I was thinking about converting the butt plate to a removable one for additional storage options. I would have had to cut out the old plate and, most likely, destroy it. I needed the spare to replace the old one but the replacement is not available.

| Great -- Ruger is really slipping
No cap anywhere to be found. It's really bad when the buyer must inspect for flaws and errors -- however with the 10/22 TD it's really required. I had to pass on one TD when I noted that the rear sight was misaligned (seems to be common). I was so happy to find one without this issue I failed to notice the missing cap.

You should inspect everything you buy, especially brand new models. Depending on how detail oriented of a person you are, how much you care, or how much you know about the certain products, sometimes the consumer doesnt care about a little defect. My SP101 has a really rough forcing cone on it, I bought the gun summer of last year (first revolver), shot a couple thousand rounds through it, learned fine details about revolvers and finally noticed it.
It happens, sure it sucks, but I know they will fix it. I should have looked up more about what to look into for revolvers, we both overlooked a detail and now were in the same boat, but as long as they fix it, it cant be THAT bad, its not like the guns not functional. When they are putting something like 1.2mil guns out a year, I'm sure eyes get tired and their is human error involved. Theres manufacturers in many industries that put out faulty products.
I would just try calling them also, I emailed them, got no answer, emailed again 3 days later. They did get back to me day after the second time, but transferred me a few times and I'm just going to call anyway but its mostly set up

Ya....my Ruger Takedown has some cuts in the stock in places and other similar QC issues.
I shot it today with a Ruger BX-25 and had a few failure to feeds....all in all, fun little .22.

| Oh Well -- I do wonder who inspects the firearms prior to shipment
With Ruger (at least with the 10/22 TD), it's buyer beware. Either they have incompetent QC inspectors at the factory or their QC standards have fallen far below standard.

Well, confirmed. My Takedown model will be going back to Ruger as well.
The same emblem under the grip has fallen off of mine while at the range today. Albeit, a small issue, this in conjunction with the misc. chips in the plastic is enough that they should hear about it.

Probably a dumb question, but, since the 10/22 takedown comes in a box that is snug when inside of the pack, are you going to ship everything back to Ruger?
I will add that my 10/22 also shoots about 2 inches high and right at 25yards...Not super stoked anymore..

Contacted Ruger after the 4th of July holiday -- they are making it right -- sending an entire new stock and not requiring me to return the one missing the pistol grip cap.
As for shooting the Ruger 10/22 TD, sweet. Like most firearms, mine will require a some sight adjustments in order to be spot on. So far so good -- off-hand groups of under three inches at 25 yards. We must remember the TD is not a target rifle.

I just use a red dot on my TD. Have never even fired it with iron sights. I know opinions differ, but I think that the stock iron sights on the 10/22 are borderline useless. Drift adjustable sights are for the birds. The 10/22 really comes into its own with a red dot sight.

I am having the same issue and would love the same resolve. Did you call and, if so, which facility? Did you just email?

Hi all, I went looking for a forum like this one after I took my new TD out for its first go yesterday after buying it roughly 3 weeks ago. Yes the grip cap fell off like said in this thread, it appeared to just have very little glue on it so with a little super glue i think your ok.
My problem is the bolt release seems to be all jacked up. Either i am engaging it wrong but i dont know. I didnt notice it when i first purchased the gun but yesterday it was horrid, it was way to hard to get the bolt to unlock and slide forward and it had trouble locking back after the last round.
I am going to play with it some more and if it is still the same its going back to Ruger, its just a pain in the butt.

For the first time ever I sent a firearm in to Ruger the 4th of July Weekend.
The procedure is that you call the appropriate repair facility. I believe that for the 10/22 that will be New Hampshire.
Once they determine that your rifle needs to go in they will email you a prepaid UPS shipping label. Pack the gun with an empty magazine or two and send it in.
I got my pistol back from Prescott 8 days after I sent it in which is pretty impressive given that I mailed it on July 3 right before the holiday. And yes, the pistol was completely fixed.
