10 22 Takedown Picatinny?

Hey everyone. New Ruger fan here. I bought a 10 22 Takedown as well as a UTC Red/Green dot sight. I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a picatinny rail for the takedown. I have seen some for the 10 22, but they look too long for the takedown. Any help would really be appreciated.

Anyone know if this fits well on the Takedown model of the 10 22?

I used the Leupold Rifleman scope mount with blue loctite on my two Takedowns. It's a wee bit lower that the UTG one. Comes in matte black or silver.

The matte black is #56506. Check out the online reviews and you'll see the comments about the ease of using the iron sights once you pull a scope or green/red dot off. I use Warne QD medium rings 201LM on my scopes and Bushnell Trophy red dot/green dot and they're a great match with that base.

Good luck!

Redleg will become famous soon enough
If it fits the standard 10/22 it should fit the takedown. By inspection they appear to come with the same weaver rail. What is wrong with the one Ruger suppies? It accommodated my EOTech XPS2-0 on my Takedown perfectly:

There is nothing wrong with the rail Ruger supplies. Many people use the Leupold Rifleman scope mount. As Bigfooter stated it is lower so when one removes the scope or red dot one can use the iron sights with the rail in place.

I was curious myself in terms of adding the full tactical attachment that includes the tri-rail picatinny for the front part of the stock. the UTG unit (not just the scope rail but the full-blown tactical unit) requires that you bolt both on the barrel band AND the scope rail screw holes so it would completely nullify the "takedown" feature.
I'm thinking about ordering it and cutting off the scope rail part...

I have the same rail on my 10/22 and it has been great, I would recommend it for the price.

You won't have any issues mounting this to your Takedown model as they are the same as a standard model. It won't interfere with the take down portion of the barrel.

Angry Will It ALL FIT

Hi Guys (Newbie here)

Got some questions before I buy the great Ruger Takedown s/steel with flash suppressor.

Will this scope fit inside the pouch that comes with the rifle, alone with Weaver high rings & mount ?

Get a good set of Warne Quick Disconnect rings and take the scope off the rifle before putting it in the bag. I wouldn't want the bell of the optics to be the bumper on the bottom of the bag.

Thumbs down scope will go out of line

By using quick release rifle rings; won't that throw out the alignment of the rifle rings ?

Not if you put the scope on the same time every time. Push the rings all the way forward then tighten them down. Install you scope in the rings. Then when you remove the scope and replace it make sure you push the scope forward so the rings recoil lugs are all the way forward.

Also I would be more concerned with play between the barrel and receiver on a gun that has a removable barrel. What ever optic you chose weather perminate or quick disconnect its mounted to a piece that is not perminatly attached to the barrel. If play between the barrel and receiver with optic mounted is not a concern, then the quick disconnect feature of the scope rings should also not be a concern.

UTC Rail

Kevin87

Just finished installing that picatinny rail. Fit my Takedown perfectly. After I return from the range again I will report on how well it works with the iron sights and wether flex in the removable barrel is a concern with the optics!
