| bx-25 magazine success!!
i'm new to the forum, and new to firearm ownership, but recently purchased a ruger 10/22. took it out to the range last week with the 10 round mag that it comes with plus a 32 round mag made by promag. the promag magazine, literally, misfed/jammed about every other round or so. went out and bought the bx-25 magazine made by ruger for about twice the money, and took it to the range today, and it worked like a charm, every time. even after 100+ rounds and the barrel being fairly hot. definitely a success, and i see myself taking the promag back to the store and buying several more bx-25s in the near future. just fyi, for what it's worth...

I remember using the old Ramline (more specifically, Jamline) mags when I was learning to shoot on my 1st 10 22.
Man those things sucked.
The BX-25 goes for about 30$ in my nick of the woods. Completely worth the extra cost (which is minimal, really). IMO its not even worth looking at any other magazines. These things kick ass! Steel lips and so solidly built.
I have 3 of them, plus about 5 of the little rotary 10 rounders, which I still love.
Stick with the Ruger mags. You won't be disappointed!
Long story short, I agree!

Man those things sucked. | I was at the range yesterday with my 2 ~ 30 round Ramline mags. I bought these in the late 80s and remember them functioning just fine back then. They functioned fine yesterday for over 400 rounds, so my experience is different than yours. I never had any of the Ramline 50 rounders, so that may be the difference, but the 30s are fine IMO. I dont use them alot because I dont want to wear out the plastic feed lips, so I have 4 BX 25s and the 50 round drum from Black Dog. That thing is fun, but a pain to load.

Yep, the BX does a great job and are worth the few dollars more. I've posted about the pro-mags or poor-mags before. They are junk.

yes, i am now firmly of the same opinion-- as strativarius and grandpabear stated, they're worth the extra few bucks. it would be nice if they were a little cheaper, but this seems to be one of those clear instances of you-get-what-you-pay-for. i'm definitely going to buy several more (once i'm up in montana and can get them a few bucks cheaper AND no sales tax!)

any thoughts from anyone out there (i should probably start this as a separate thread) about good bulk ammo for targets? i fired a couple hundred rounds of remington .22lr brass covered hollow points this morning and MAN were they messy!! they fired just fine, but dirty dirty dirty. way dirtier than the bulk federal i shot last week. thoughts on a 'better' ammo for .22lr in the same price range?

$20.39 is pretty awesome, but i'd guess there's tax and some shipping to deal with (since it's out of texas and would need to be mailed to me). think i'll hold out and try to pick up a few without tax in a couple weeks. but thanks-- that does give me a good basis for price comparison.

I own 2 of the BX mags and have never had an issue with them. BTY, they are easier to disassemble and clean than the factory 10 rd rotary mag.

BoydS-- good to know. i haven't disassembled or cleaned either the 10s or the 25 yet, but that just pushes me further toward picking up a few more 25s.

i also like the fact that they have steel lips, as some posters here and on youtube have mentioned that the non-steel hotlips wear down over time in a way that the steel lips don't. so far, i'm a total convert to the ruger bx25!
