Unless you have a vintage model to compare it to you don't have a valid reference to really understand how far the quality and attention to detail has fallen. I don't think anyone is saying the new ones are 'crap' ...they are no where near what they used to be though. .

Ruger produces millions of guns, they're bound to have a few lemons. Law of averages...
I don't think their quality has so much slipped as their production materials and methods have changed...(i.e.) more plastic less metal...
They have a first class service department...so don't take it personally, luck of the draw, send it back and they'll make it right.
