| Where Have All The Vintage 10/22s Gone?
I know there are a few on here that share the love of the original vintage (pre warning & pre-prefix) 10/22s. I haven't seen one at a gun show in 3 years. It is not that there wasn't any I was interested in ...there were NONE. I used to could buy at least 2-5 per show for many years. Where have they all gone? I know some are getting butchered as 'donor' guns for projects. Have I bought all of the ones in the SouthEast? .

They're still out there. People are just holding on to them. They're unregistered, if you know what I mean.
As far as your signature, the "love" of money is the root of all evil. If you're going to quote the Bible, be honest about it.

Still have mine, built in 1967. My brother was the original owner. After he went into the Marine Corp. that year I kinda adopted it.

I'll bet there are thousands of 10/22s in the back of closets gathering dust all over the USA! :-)

This is a common translation error and everyone love to poke at Christians and this verse in 1 Timothy 6 (v. 10). The more appropriate translation from the Greek is "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils"
Notice the difference: A root of ALL KINDS of evil versus THE root of EVIL. Big difference!

Is there anything special about these so-called vintage 10-22's? I mean a 10-22 is a 10-22, right? Kinda like the Coca-Cola of .22 semi-automatic rifles? (mine is a 2001 model).

I have what I guess is a bicentennial model that says "Made in the 200th year of American liberty" on the barrel. Has a nice glossy walnut stock as well. I don't see any warnings or anything on it and the barrel rollmark says Southport, Conn. U.S.A. What does pre-prefix refer to? The serial number?

They started the prefix in 1970. Ruger 10/22 Serial Number History |

I have one 10/22....
I waited a long time to locate it. It's not real old, built in 1974 it has a nice walnut stock and has never had any top mounted optic (which I like....no top of the receiver scratches).
I looked for a number of years....then summer before last a man was at a gun show and offered this one to me for $250.00 I said yes. It's not for sale.
