| Ruger Customer Service
In 1984, I was given a Ruger 10/22 for Christmas. It was given to me by someone who meant a lot to me at the time. It cost the princely sum of $99 back then. This rifle has been a constant companion for these 28 years and I have no idea how many rounds have been fed through her or how many squirrels she has helped take. It has always been one of my favorite rifles and I've always babied it.
It was always a very accurate gun ( and superbly reliable) but as I got older, it got tougher to use the old V22 Weaver that was on it. I recently bought and installed an adjustable objective scope with significantly more eye relief. After sighting the scope in, I decided to see what she would do at 50 and 100 yards. I was a little stunned. Keep in mind that this rifle is absolutely stock.
I also got a .918" five shot group at 100 yards. This was on a windy day shooting during the lulls.
With an Appleseed coming up, I started shooting it more than normal without cleaning to see how many rounds I could get through it before it malfunctioned. One day, she suddenly started shooting all over, wouldn't hold zero, etc. I though it was dirty so when I took it apart to clean it, I was horrified to discover that there was a crack in the receiver. It was like an old friend had died. Sure, I did buy a new 10/22 to replace it but it's just not the same.
So I contacted Ruger and they asked me to send the receiver in for evaluation. I specifically mentioned that the rifle was 28 years old and that I had shot a lot of ammo through it. in only sent the receiver in because I want to hang on to that barrel.
To my surprise, yesterday, I received a letter from them. I fully expected to pay for parts, labor and shipping.
I was totally floored and am amazed at the quality of service that I received.
I'm incredulous that they would support their product to this extent after so many years and so much use.
I just had to share this.

One of the main reason we are a Ruger family. I bought my wife a SR22 pistol back in JAnuary. Lost a part of the magazine while changing the finger extension. Called Ruger on Thursday and told them I lost the part (all my fault). They sent me the part I needed at no charge Priority Mail (received it on Saturday). I think I will stick with an American company that makes and services their products here, speaks English and makes an outstanding product.

This is why I buy Ruger. Too many people forget that when you buy a firearm, you are buying into the company and its system for taking care of customers. I myself have never had an issue requiring me to get help from Ruger, but it is nice to know that they are there if I need them. |

Thanks for sharing your story. The Ruger 10-22 must be one of the most popular firearms sold. Great customer service. Ruger all the way!

Great story and sorry to hear that this happened, but it gives me hope for the bubbled finish I experienced the first time I cleaned my brand new gun.
I just sent mine in and am waiting to hear back from them.
Again, THANKS
